I am having a similar problem but with 10.11.2 and didn't have this problem with mavericks. Cannot figure it out but the kernel_task seems to be associated with my network/ethernet connection. Looking at network data for it shows very high amounts and it's always using 1.5-2gb memory.

I'm having this exact problem. Only difference in my config is the video card.

I'm using the most recent bios. i've tried with and without that usbfamily kext and it happens both ways. Regarding my sleep problem, I fixed that by making sure that every option under the power/sleep settings was checked. I found this suggestion from Tony in another thread. Now it wakes up...
