I have the computer connected to a KVM switch. Audio is done via USB adapter. Not pretty, but working (would not pass the test of anyone with proper ears as there are some hissing noises etc, but it is ok for my purposes).
No idea what I did. With the original card (which was in the Optiplex... some ancient AMD card with 512 MB memory on it), the computer did not really run. With the internal HD4600 there was no joy either. Went to Amazon, got the card. plugged it in and it just started.
Just thought I had linked the wrong product, but it seems to be correct... Interesting: "Currently not available". darn.. did I get the last one? :)
Or will you have to wait until after Corona?
Hi there,
I have an OptiPlex 8020 SSF. And I was unable or to lazy (probably both) to resolve the sound issues. I had internal speakers but I could not get any sound on the headphones/external speakers. Every time I wanted to watch youtube quietly I had to switch to Linux or Win10.
Well... Got...
I have now resolved my sound problem as well.

Either pay £12 or try to resolve the sound issues. I went for the first option :) and it works :)
They have no interest in Macs... They were quite happy with the WIn10 professional license stickers on the casing.
I should actually unfriend them :)
Does the 9010 guide also apply to the 9020?
thanks for the card link. Costs about 3 times as much as the 550. I guess for now this is OK... as long as I can run World of Warships on it, i am ok. And this is working on the RX550... which has 4 GB as well.
Let's get the audio issue sorted for now... Amazon says delivery comes on Wednesday...
I did not buy the 9020 :) What happened was that a number of PC were thrown out in my company. They were just out of warranty... There was a big pile of 9020 and 9010 and some other older 960 (?). Monitors were thrown out as well. Picked up 2 x 9010 + 1 x 9020 + 6x 2007FP :)
I did not buy the...
The case (9020 SFF) only allows low profile and single slot cards. I guess with the RX550 I have already reached the maximum here.
I am not saying that the computer does not work. But one could see that some of the transitions could not be calculated "instantly" it took a second or 2 :)
It is...
The issue with the sound still persists. I have now invested £9 into an external USB "sound card". This comes hopefully next week and will hopefully resolving the issue in a practical sense, without the need to actually having to resolve it :)
I tried btw. updating Clover or messing with the...
To get back to topic: The creator of this thread can use a RX550 which will fit into the Dell SFF, but will have to make sure to update Lilu, WhateverGreen and AppleALC :)
Hi, guess this is getting slightly off topic now...
The card in the link is indeed a low profile card, but it is double slot.
What i meant by "wrong side" is the following:
The 3050 has like the 5050 one PCI-e x16 connector (this is the slot close to the PSU) and one VGA daughter board...
Hi, I think it actually does matter. In post #42 the MT and the SFF are shown. The whole thread is about a Small Form Factor case.
The SFF will only accept low profile cards. I had outlined this in post #48.
The PSU in the SFF is usually a bit smaller compared to a MT. This means there are a...
