Hi there,
I have an OptiPlex 8020 SSF. And I was unable or to lazy (probably both) to resolve the sound issues. I had internal speakers but I could not get any sound on the headphones/external speakers. Every time I wanted to watch youtube quietly I had to switch to Linux or Win10.
Well... Got myself an external sound card. in my case: DuKabel 3.5mm External USB Sound Card, USB Audio Adapter With Mic, USB to 3.5mm Jack (4-pole CTIA) Converter for Headset, PS4, Laptop, Speaker or 4-pole TRRS Microphone, 1.2 Meter
This is not actually true... my version has a much shorter cable 20 cm or so (8 inches in old money). Suits me well.

This thing was plug and play. worked right away and now I don't have to bother anymore trying to resolve the audio issues.
Cheers
Stefan
