Hi all, have done a lot of searching but am a bit lost
I'm hoping i can have 24 drives from an enclosure show up in Mac OS as just a bunch of drives. Open to RAID config also but doesn't need to be. Just need bulk storage and NAS systems aren't working for me.
I understand i can use a hardware...
as above, you'll do better with a radeon card even an older one like a 280 got me into the teens. 8 series mobo is also a bit older, what kind of speeds are you getting to that SSD with black magic disk test?
i updated from yosemite to 10.11.4 without any problems, but then ran the 10.11.5 update and it's bombed to the point it panics straight away straight after the 'aptiofix2drv' line right at the beginning. I think Clover set me to 15,1 - i wonder if that could be causing it. Odd cause it worked...
If you're getting stuck at an "OsxAptioFixDrv: AllocateRelocBlock(): can not allocate relocation..." try removing any extra PCI cards you've got in your rig like SATA cards. I came across this fix after days of trying various things, it's always the little obvious ones. This is on a Z97-UD7-TH +...
in case you never solved it, i'm 99% sure this will be to do with SMBIOS. I had the same issues heaps of times, finally just set it to mac pro 3,1 and it all went away.
hi all, just jumped on this as i was running a Gigabyte GTX980 for a week or so but getting stability issues. The Nvidia webdriver/security update issues caused me to look elsewhere and found this thread. FCPX would crash on launch every time.
Couldn't buy a 280 as they are discontinued at...
Not using a DSDT for this build, just basic fakeSMC, power management.
flicking the SMBIOS to Mac Pro 3,1 solved the final cut crashing instantly.
what i HAVE got though is the random lockup (no kernel panic, the machine just becomes unresponsive)
which i've read others are having...
this thread helped, may be related to SMBIOS.. will try mac pro.

I should add that FCPX was completely stable on my 8 series asus board with basically the same specs, same graphics card also.
I haven't played with graphics enabler on/off to see if it has any effect, but i'll try that next and post up if i solve any of it..
Hi guys, i've seen a few threads but nothing conclusive
Crash log is at the bottom, so far i have:
experimented with different SMBIOS
turned of XMP profile with ram
repaired permissions
ignored permissions on media volumes
Crash happens as soon as you do anything, import a file, wait...
just to follow up (and maybe help others...)
it looks like with two of these: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=21699&cPath=385&utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=export_feed&gclid=CPaB0LH6qbcCFcFhpQodwQ8ADQ#googlebase
and one of these...
hi all, got a nice little i3 hackintosh build humming away here, currently running OSX server and doing time machines packed with about 10 TB of hard drives...
i set it up mostly as a test to see how it would go, and to put my various drives to use backing up a fairly beefy video editing...
thanks for posting, i've built a similar rig and have the same sleep issue so i'll give that latest next a try, i also get very random kernel panics, when the machine is idle and occasionally browsing or in mail - hard to figure out the exact reasons.
thanks for the write up mate, i'm upgrading from a super reliable x58 i7 setup i've been running for over a year - to this.
lion currently downloading from app store and everything else ready to go. Will let you know how it goes.
This will be my 4th hacky that i use for daily video/audio duties :)
