    [SUCCESS] Lenovo Thinkpad T460

Hello, Many thanks for your work on the T460. I am looking into buying a refurbished one. But when looking into the specs of the offers, i see that they contain a i5-6300U Processor instead of a i5-6200U. Intel ARK shows me these differences (Sorry for the formatting)...

    No 4k/Retina with i7-8565U

I already switched to Macmini8,1 because the MacbookPro Model always looked for a nonexistent TouchId sensor causing delays when authenticating. The -cdfon and hdmi2.0 patches are only for HMDI AFAIK. I am using DP. HDMI does not work at all. Also, my monitor only supports HMDI 1.4 -Heinrich

    No 4k/Retina with i7-8565U

Looks good! How did you achieve this? Note that I have UHD 620, not 630. Strangely, your Device ID 1916 suggests you have a HD 520?

    No 4k/Retina with i7-8565U

Sadly, this doesn't make any difference too. it seems I will have to settle with non retina modes. Right now, I am writing this on a machine with 4k/retina scaled to 1920x1080. Text is clear and crisp. On my new machine, 1920x1080 looks really blurred (on the same monitor). -Heinrich

    No 4k/Retina with i7-8565U

Hi Zappy39, unfortunately still no avail. How much does the model id matter? Can I easily play with it? (See question in my 1st post) -Heinrich

    No 4k/Retina with i7-8565U

Screenshot was incorrect, taken via Screensharing: MacOS seems to think it is connected to a TV set (hence 1080p). Image also suggests that. I don't know if this important. Note also, that screen mirroring is not available although there are two devices present. -Heinrich

    No 4k/Retina with i7-8565U

Hi zappy39, thanks for your help. Unfortunately, it does not seem to make any difference. Resolution is still the same. As you can see, your patch *is* reflected in System information. Anything else that I can try? -Heinrich

    No 4k/Retina with i7-8565U

Hi all, i managed to install Big Sur on my HYSTOU P05B-i7-8565U mini pc. The system is running ok, though a couple of issues remain: - Max Graphics resolution is 2560x1440, although i get 3840x2160 under Linux. - Also no Retina support - HDMI does not work at all, black screen upon GUI start -...

Hello, I got a NUC8i5BEK today and I am trying to boot from the installation usb stick. I followed the guide to the letter, but unfortunately the system hangs with: The Regents of the University..... MAC framework successfully initialized AMFLoadTrustedKeysFromNVRam: no nvram variable using...

Is it possible to get 4k@60 via DP? 64 MB will probably not bee enough for 4k?

    Intel Celeron J4005 or J3355

I am now looking at a HP EliteDesk 800 G1 USFF - Core i5 4590T 2,0 GHz (128GB SSD / 8GB RAM) Does anyone know about its noise level? Possible to disable fans?

    Intel Celeron J4005 or J3355

Yes, sure. By simply opening the iMac :| which I tried to avoid so far.. Teardowns can be found at ifixit.com.

    Intel Celeron J4005 or J3355

I had this app already installed on my Late 2009 iMac, but for some reason the min values are 1000/1100/940 so I cannot really get the machine quiet.

    Intel Celeron J4005 or J3355

Thank you for this hint. Maybe I can use it to calm down my 27" iMac. But, as you mention, it does not work on the Optiplex. And most certainly not in a VM :) I will return the 7010, revisit the whole project and maybe give the J4005 or J3355 a shot. Thank you very much for your help anyway...

    Intel Celeron J4005 or J3355

Yes, of course this is normal. But every other mainboard o came across so far, had an option to skip the "Press F1 to continue" dance. I want to use this system a sound generator when playing my MIDI keyboard so yes, it must be quiet (fanless). And I don't want a keyboard connected all the time...

    Intel Celeron J4005 or J3355

I now have everything that I need running. I ended up installing VMware esxi with Mojave running in a vm. Last step is disconnecting the fans to get a quiet system. However on power up BIOS reports fan failures and requests me to press F1 in order to continue. This is not so good for a headless...

    Intel Celeron J4005 or J3355

My 7010 USFF arrived today! Looks nice and clean outside and inside. When I powered it on to check BIOS settings, I had to fetch and plug a VGA Monitor, both DP outputs are dead. Is this expected behaviour? On other machines you can access BIOS on any video output. Or is DP only activated by the...

    Intel Celeron J4005 or J3355

I just found out myself: Main difference is 9010 can handle more memory. 7010 is also available with Celeron. Just bought the 7010:)

What I like about the Lenovo box is its small size: Width: 179 mm (7.05 inches) Height: 34.5 mm (1.36 inches) Depth: 182 mm (7.17 inches) Hardly larger than my 2007 MacMini that I want to replace. The CPU could be replaced by a used i5-3475s that I could get for 45€. Still cheaper and nicer...
