Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe SSD

I'm considering adding a NVMe SSD to the M.2 slot in my Z370N-WIFI motherboard. My boot time is about 28 seconds from the power-on button to the desktop, using my Crucial M500 SATA SSD drive. Since I have a Mini-ITX computer with a built-in power supply of "only" 180 watts, I'm concerned about power consumption of the hypothetical NVMe SSD. How much power do those things use (say like the 970 EVO)? And will boot time be about the same?

3.5 watts for the EVO 250 up to 3.75 for the 500-1tb Pro.

Good info, Thanks very much!
P.S. I just ran startup on a stopwatch. It was 31 seconds from power button press to desktop, and that includes a 2-second delay in Clover for choosing boot SSD. Would that be improved at all with a 970 EVO instead of my Crucial M500 SATA SSD?

Maybe a little bit it depends on your clover setup and how many fixes you have in clover. Are there a lot of Kexts in clover/Kexts/Other folder, dsdt fixes, cpu power management, ssdt, audio, WiFi, lan, etc.? There are many variables in system setup and required injections.
The main thing or benefit you get is 3x-5x read and write speeds which speeds up certain processes and apps. For video or music rendering it can make a big difference, for gaming depending on titles not so much. If your moving a lot of data it’s a good upgrade especially if you have. Multi core processor.

I've noted no improvement in startup time since switching from SATA SSD to NVME SSD for booting. About 30s from button press to desktop. Background stuff is maybe loaded a bit faster(CCC, Pathfinder etc) but the difference is tiny.
I have 7 internal storage devices now, which is better than six. And still not enough.

I'm using my NVME SSD as scratch disk for LR & PS too, can't say I notice a huge difference. There's also a couple of my most used sample libs on NVME, these load quickly but SSD was fine too.

From spinning rust to SSD's was a huge step forward, but SATA or NVME feels the same speed-wise.

Sounds like other than a learning experience it wouldn't really be worth it to me. I appreciate everyone's replies, thanks!

Do you do a lot of booting?
Not just for fun, but probably a half-dozen times a day. No complaints here about boot time as it is (30 secs or so), but I thought maybe there would be noticeable improvement compared to my present SATA SSD performance with an NVMe SSD as the boot "disk." Sounds like no.

I installed one 970 EVO NVME coming from a SATA 850 EVO
Moved my OS with CCC - OS version : 10.13.6 APFS

Working is OK (indeed I do feel note significants differences) except a longer boot with 970 EVO (around 10 seconds more)
Weird ... try to search why (the "hid shim legacy 2" step seems taking more time)

I bought 970 EVO 1TB and install my MBPR 15 mid 2015.
Then, I use Blackmagic SSD speed test tool to test R/W speed.
It should be read up to 3000MB/s and write up to 2400MB/s.
But I got read 2200MB/s and write 2400MB/s.
It's very strange why read speed is 2200MB/s.

Does anybody get the same status with me?
