USB - New Raise Port Limit Patch for macOS 10.12 Sierra

with a 8-Series MB I'd assume that the 1st patch (for 9-Series) should be used?

It doesn't matter how big you make the port limit. As long as it is larger (or equal) than the number of ports on your XHC controller. So, obviously, if you use a patch that raises the port limit higher than necessary, it is no different from raising it to exactly the right value.

Yes, that's the only patch I have been using since El Capitan. Have 8 series mobo, and USB is all OK upon upgrade to Sierra.

Reporting that works with Intel 7-Series and Sierra (I'm using 10.12.1 beta) without any additional boot flags.

Using the port limit patch on 7-series is nonsense. 7-series XHC does not have enough ports on XHC to run into the 15 port limit.

This got me my USB ports back, unfortunately most of the are still running at USB2 speed. Pretty certain these are the USB3 ports provided by the Renesas 720210 chips on my MB (Gigabyte X99-UD5) , any advice ?

Is this needed for Z77? For some reason, my front USB ports stopped working after Sierra on my Asus Z77I

Read post #14.

Hi, i am newbie in hackintosh so sorry for my lack of knowledge ...
I also have a Asus Z77 motherboard which looks like having problem with USB internal (my BCM94360CD 1900 Mbps bluetooth not working on El Capitan but does under Win 10)
I assume it's a problem of USB internal recognition and i am asking if this could help me to make it work ?

i know, i read post #14 but i prefer to ask.
Thank you

Thanks for the patch its working on my Z170 motherboard

I haven't used this patch before so this might seem like a stupid question. Does this patch make my USB 3 ports work right? Sometimes my external drives show up as USB 2 instead of USB 3 even though they are plugged into a USB 3 port. Some ports don't work at all. Does this patch correct that problem?
