Currently running a single box with a gtx970 for my mac SSD via HDMI to monitor, with a gtx1080-via display port to the same monitor. Set startup to the 970. To boot in windows, I just F12 at startup, choose my M2 SSD Windows 10 Boot Drive and hit return. Have to switch my monitor input on the...
Yes. Same situation. Here is what I did. Both cards installed. HDMI from 970 to monitor. DP from 1080 to monitor. (ALSO: HDMI from 1080 to Vive or Rift) (Provided your monitor has both connections.) Bios set to boot on 970. If I want to boot in MacOS, I just normal reboot, and let clover do it's...
Hmmmm.
MacRumors (comments) have reported that the new 10.12.3 beta updates ALL Graphics drivers. (AMD, INTEL, GeoForce)
Does one dare to hope? If the persistent rumor is true, that it's Apple dragging their feet here, possibly this could be a step in the right direction.
To tell you the truth I have not been able to play with it long enough to tell. My fans are pretty silent as well. Not sure if there is a good method of testing that while I am booted to OSX. Any software out there that might do that?
Yes. I know what you mean. There are better ways of accomplishing the same thing, but I keep expecting the Pascal drivers to drop "any day now". Of course I have felt that way since June when I got my 1080.
Had been doing without my "hack" since then and just running windows 10, but some work...
I'm actually having to mess with this myself, except a 1080 and a 970 are the cards I'm using.
I left the first card (the 1080) in Slot 1 and put the 970 back in slot 2 so I could hackintosh again. DP to the 1080(So I would have it's HDMI available for my Vive) and HDMI to the 970. It seems to...
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah. I guess you are right. Just being impatient I guess. (And Having 2 computer set ups in 2 different rooms)
And, of course, being under the "spell" of the Vive.
The experience is SO unique and new IMO, that I want to wring every possible drop of performance out of the...
So let me ask the experts this.
I did upgrade my PC to a 1080 for my Vive. (Coincidentally my hack got fubarred in a system update the day before). Since then I have been running my OSX stuff on my old iMac. BUT, I do still happen to have my old 970 still lying around as well and was thinking of...
Yeah. I'm kind of in the same boat.
Got an HTC Vive and was so caught up in the Hoopla about the 1080 when it was released that I had to have it to improve my VR performance. Coincidentally the day my Vive arrived my OSX install somehow got hosed during what should have been a routine update...
Finally.
After scanning the boards here, I read about a possible solution.
Changing my system Definition to iMac 14,2.
Had all that loaded in Intel Native Video. Downloaded the SECOND to latest nVidia driver package.
(WebDriver-346.01.02f02.pkg)
This finally loaded and gave me the option to...
Well.
I Tried that.
And after 5 days....
I have a Hackintosh!
The iMac system definition was the key.
(And the one thing I would have not thought to change)
Before I scream "success" I'm going to put it through it's paces but as of right now everything (even Sound and what I have...
Thanks SO much for posting this.
I have a similar build (Except i went 4 core route with the 4790), we even used the same case.
I have been going NUTS since Friday Night trying to get my system to recognize my Video card.
It runs like a dream using the Intel graphics but hangs every time without...
Hey.
Since we last communicated I have done the following.
Updated the BIOS to the most recent version (9).
Re-Set the BIOS to the suggested parameters.
Re-Formatted the Drive and put a new copy of Yosemite on it.
(Using the "Barely There" graphics from the card)
Did the "bare-minimum"...
Okay.
After going back and re-installing as stated, I rebooted with the
nv_disable=1
tag. This froze.
I re-booted using the
dart=0 IGPEnabler=No GraphicsEnabler=No nvda_drv=1 -f -v
sequence.
Since I did not get the deadbeef error I shot and am posting this:
It loos different enough to...
