Just installed 10.9.4 on the ASUS Z97-A following this guide:

with an i5 4790K and a GTX 760.
Very simple. Everything works. Only difference to Deluxe is the...
I can't speak to the dual GPU (x8 x8) bottlenecking or not (I've heard the same things, but have never tested), but the 1150 chipset has 24 PCIe lanes, 16 of which are dedicated to graphics. Don't think more than 24 is possible with that chipset...
Huh. That would appear to be the slot listed: 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x2 mode).
From what I can tell, that means you can still have M.2, Sata Express, and Thunderbolt all running at the same time. This appears to be the only Asus Z97 board on which this is possible.... The Deluxe and Pro models...
More of a hardware question, but can someone (Tony?) verify which PCI-e slots the Thunderbolt card works in on this board?
From specs on the Thunderbolt card:
PCI Express 2.0 x4 interface
From Asus specs on the Z97-A:
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x2 mode)...
Any advice on possible motherboards?
I was looking at the Gigabyte X99-UD4, only because of compatibility of past gigabyte board with hackintosh builds. But was this mostly because of the audio codecs?

Oops, I was editing the wrong one...
Good news is that the edits worked and GFX0 and HDAU show up in IOReg, the bad news is that the edits disabled my onboard sound. I had sound through a DSDT HDEF edit and a patch of AppleHDA under 10.6.8, but after I upgraded to Lion 10.7.2 the sound...
Hey Guys,
I tried to set up HDMI audio on my Sapphire Vapor-X 6850 (GA-EP35-DS3P) but had no luck.
I pasted the "Generic DSDT_HDMI_Audio_Edit" into my Device(PCI0.EXPL) as instructed but GFX0 did not show up in IOReg.
A few quirks I noticed:
- It was labelled Device(PCI0.EXPL) not...
I followed MaLdOn's guide on insanelymac.com and the install went smoothly, so it appears there is something in this install method that wouldn't work for my system...
Yes, I agree. Moving the /Extra folder to the installer partition did not help.
The last two suggestions are only applicable once I have actually managed to run the installer. I'm not at that step yet.
I don't have Multibeast installed on my SL partition. I set it all up manually, but I am using MacPro3,1. Of course, that only matters when I boot from my SL partition as it is set in com.apple.boot.plist on the SL partition, not on the Installer partition.
This error typically occurs in two...
Can someone give me some info on what exactly xmove does? From what I understand, the original OSInstall.pkg in InstallESD.img contains a platform check. Does anyone know if xmove removes this platform check? Does it alter it? What are the specifications that must be met?
I've checked my BIOS...
