    Z87X-OC - Sonoma?

Is there any chance my old Z87X-OC will run Sonoma or has that ship sailed?

    Z87X Bios stupidity

I doubt that would have any effect; according to my notes and memory this issue has plagued me on and off since 6 years ago so it's some kind of common affliction on my setup I guess. Thankfully I was able to get into setup briefly enough to at least get boot drive set to close to what I want...

    Z87X Bios stupidity

Thanks, but that choice only produces a black screen... it never opens the bios screens. Really???

    Z87X Bios stupidity

Really stupid - I need to get back to the bios setup to change boot drive selection, and I now find that multiple DEL keys will allow me into bios setup but only for maybe 10 times. At some random point, it decides I can't go there any more and produces a large flashing cursor on the top left...

    Can't find where I'm set to 14,2 in config.plist

Thanks Jay for all of that info. Wow... seems like a long way to go. The original problem was that when I tried to upgrade to Big Sur the messages shows "this software cannot be installed on this computer" or words to that effect, and I found by trying with 15,1 temporarily set, it does go...

    Can't find where I'm set to 14,2 in config.plist

This section does not appear to be included in my config. I have attached the config.plist in a zip file if you have time to have a look. Now I'm really perplexed... my box swears it's a 14,2 but that string does not appear in config. How can that be?

    Can't find where I'm set to 14,2 in config.plist

I tried to just make this change using Multibeast but it fails every time. Log shows a "could not bless helper" error... no idea where that comes from so we're back to this method.

    Can't find where I'm set to 14,2 in config.plist

I'm trying to get past Catalina to either Big Sur or a newer release. i find that BS is not interested in attempting to install on 14,2 but is quite willing on 15,1. I have other hurdles to cross as so far my attempts result in a looping install so I am missing something but it would be...

    Can't find where I'm set to 14,2 in config.plist

Seems like a dumb question but on my Catalina hack, I cannot locate the string 14,2 in my config.plist for clover. I need to set it to a different value but I cannot locate where it is being set. The SMBIOS section is: <key>SMBIOS</key> <dict>...

    Clover and 1440p?

I fixed this. it occurred to me that the disk that died was running Clover 4769 very reliably. I dug around on the net and tried a 4769 I found but it didn't work. Then I realized that Clover cleverly keeps backups of the EFI, a brilliant move. I found the 4769 backup I needed and dropped it...

    Clover and 1440p?

After running quite flawlessly for several years my (currently Catalina) boot drive went off into outer space last week. I have no idea what happened but I restored from TM to a brand new SSD. I tried to install Clover from Multibeast but it fails with a "cannot bless" problem so I gave up on...

<< Solved >> In MacOS hell - need more current version of TimeMachine restore

Using current version of Unibeast for this OS worked just fine, restored from Time Machine, all good.

<< Solved >> In MacOS hell - need more current version of TimeMachine restore

After years of flawless operation my hack hit a land mine this weekend. Been on Catalina with APFS booting a 5 year old Samsung 840 SSD. It got very flaky and unreliable on Saturday. Clover boots but shows no bootable drives. Finally decided to just restore time machine of the drive and...

Z87X-OC - how far can I go on versions?

The app that started this is HR Block tax software which I love... even though it's a once-a-year event it still works very well for me but they don't support Mojave any more so I had to move to Catalina... and I figured ok if I'm giving up 32 bit anyway, how hard would it be to get really...
