Pretty good deal on an LGA 1150 motherboard with the full-featured Z87 chipset for Haswell. Downside is there are only two PCI-e slots, which is fine for graphics and wifi, but if you need something else as well...
Backed up from my CarbonCopy. Deleted the genericusb kext, reinstalled and ran multibeast before reboot. Successful install, but no audio. See attached ioreg.
What are other options? Is that it for alc889 from now on?
Ran 10.8.5 again over existing installation. Attached is screenshots and ioreg from before and after. Also included is the system.log which I think contains the readout from -v? I didn't see a kernel.log
Alright. Here's what I did:
1. Removed that usb kext
2. Ran DPCIManager
3. Rebuilt cache where there were no errors
4. Rebooted.
5. Ran Multibeast (success)
6. Checked IOREG. The layout-id seems correct now. 01-00-00-00
7. Checked About This Mac/../Software/Extensions, no AppleHDA
8...

If it would help you, I have a Carbon Copy of 10.8.4 with audio working and can run any of these diagnostics on it. Additionally, I can screenshare with you if you ever want to get in.
I will say that you will see some HDAEnabler in this console file. I tried the no-dsdt...
I, too, would like to point out that I rolled back my audio as I always have for all the 10.8 updates. But 10.8.5... no dice. I have posted my IOREG as well as all other items toleda asks for in the No Audio/Solutions and Problem Reporting thread and encourage others with the problem to do the same.
