Migration Assistant from Sonoma Hackintosh to M3 Max

So Migration Assistant over the network or via Thunderbolt gave an error so I ended up doing it via Time Machine. What is the safest way to remove OCLP because that also seemed to transfer. (I’m getting the OCLP upgrade message on boot)

Awesome, thanks for the insight. Waiting on the computer now! (It’s out for delivery)

Migration Assistant from Sonoma Hackintosh to M3 Max

Having OCLP installed shouldn't interfere with it? Worse case, if it doesn't work, I can move stuff myself and re-do all my settings (I save a lot of preference files in Dropbox so that's not a major issue - just hoping there's a quick way to do this)

Migration Assistant from Sonoma Hackintosh to M3 Max

After years and years of running Hackintosh mostly succesfully, I've decided to pull the trigger on an M3 Max. (Lots of video editing workflows that my i9 10980XE & 6900XT can't handle- that the media engines in the new machines handle extremely easily). I have a great setup on my Hackintosh...

    ASUS X299 Sonoma support

Hey, so here’s what I did. First, clone your machine to an external drive. I can’t stress this enough. Either use Carbon Copy Cloner, or do it via disk utility in recovery mode (right click on the target drive you’re backing up to in disk utility and click restore from then choose your Mac...

Fenvi T919 and Broadcom wifi back in Sonoma with OCLP

I think it still wants wifi to create the initial airdrop connection. So if you kill wifi mid-transfer on the hack, I wonder if it will pick up the rest over Ethernet. That’d be super cool (and probably way faster for larger files depending on how far your phone is from the router)

Fenvi T919 and Broadcom wifi back in Sonoma with OCLP

Yeah it works great. I’ve airdropped from across the room and it’s fine. Obviously the closer you are, the better speed you’ll get. But in terms of airdrop actually activating, these have been fantastic for years now.

<< Solved >> 6900 XT not as smooth as RX 570? Driver Issue?

Just reviving this thread to let everyone know, that graphic issue I was having is completely resolved running Sonoma. It seems Apple updated the GPU driver and hilariously, after a full week of pushing the machine really hard, it’s been about 20-30% faster on average for heavy GPU workloads...

    Carbon Copy Cloner issues

So it finished. The EFI folder didn’t copy. But that was expected. Booted back onto my working internal, copied the EFI, and it booted perfectly off the external. There’s the workaround!

    Carbon Copy Cloner issues

So theoretically, the way I’m doing the clone in recovery mode MIGHT work LOL I just chose my APFS formatted external and told it to restore it from my internal with my MacOS install. I mean if it copies every single piece of the drive, it’s just a matter of copying my EFI folder back to the...

    Carbon Copy Cloner issues

Attempting the clone with disk utility in recovery mode. But for those doing OCLP- it may break the ability to clone / backup your boot drive of a working machine with the Fenvi adapter, using SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner (possibly because of SIP or SecureBootModel being disabled, not sure...

    Carbon Copy Cloner issues

But it is related, it started when I did the patch. I think some people may want to fix this issue if they're applying OCLP for the Fenvi fix & want a backup.

    Carbon Copy Cloner issues

Not was I was asking lol Carbon Copy Cloner is failing to start the process. I believe it's failing because of these things being disabled. If I re-enable these things (without undoing the patches) I won't be able to boot properly right?

    Carbon Copy Cloner issues

SIP & SecureBootModel were the only major changes and according the blurb from CCC I listed above: “Apple's APFS replicator will fail if there are problems with your installation of macOS, filesystem corruption on the source, storage driver conflicts, problems with the hardware, or if there are...

    Carbon Copy Cloner issues

Ok, 2nd question lol When OCLP runs, it's not doing anything to the actual MacOS drive, just the EFI folder right? My thought is, for the backup purposes, create a copy of the config.plist (and rename it to config.patched) - then take my current config.plist and re-enable SIP, remove all the...
