    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

This wasn't directed at you, and by "science" I meant the OpenCore documentation and my experiential evidence.

I find this experience troubling and bizarre, but no hard feelings, purely intellectual. This is a forum where feedback should be welcomed, appreciated and acted upon. Instead, someone chooses to "ignore the science" to protect and assert one's infallibility, perhaps?

    True, until you enable it.

Consider me then as someone who has elected to enable OpenUsbKbDxe.efi, and am now reporting to you that this driver is not recommended and even harmful. Are you still going to keep this driver in your reference EFI? For what reason would anyone else want to enable it, unless he has a pre-Ivy...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I may have inadvertently activated the driver when I ran the config.plist through ProperTree and saved it. Nevertheless, if the driver is for systems older than Ivy Bridge, then it should have never been there, unless it was for some special reason I would like to be aware of.

I'm just wondering why you include OpenUsbKbDxe.efi in the Drivers section, when according to the OpenCore website, and I quote, it is "not recommended and even harmful on Ivy Bridge and newer"? It was killing my keyboard at the EFI menu level, and it only worked when I deleted this driver...

[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

@Leesureone, I am able to boot into Big Sur on my NUC8i7BEH with your OC 0.6.3 EFI, but I still prefer Clover because I can boot Linux with it, and it is definitely better looking (icons and wallpapers). Have you tried and succeeded to update Clover to 5127 for Big Sur? If so, could you pls share?

[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

I've been wary of BIOSes like 0083 that don't allow downgrades to earlier versions, but thanks to your post, I got the encouragement to do it. I was pleasantly surprised by the result: now the boot menu, after pressing F10, no longer shows every partition of my SSD as an entry. As it turns out...

[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

Thanks! I followed your advise to use EasyUEFI, and I am now writing this post on my NUC8's macOS 10.15.6 partition booted from a USB using your own OpenCore 0.6.0 EFI from page 90. I am much obliged to you, sir, cheers!

[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

I remember when the BIOS versions were still in the 50s, there was a time when I updated only to find out that I could no longer boot hackintosh, and luckily, it was possible to downgrade. Hence my wariness to adopt BIOSes which do not allow downgrades. This time around, I'm interested to try...

[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

@Leesureone, I would like to know which BIOS version is best for NUC8i7BEH. I notice that the latest is BIOS 83, but once you install it, according to its release notes, you will not be able to downgrade to any earlier one. I am therefore wary of BE_0083. What BIOS version are you currently on...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks for your reply. The answers to all your queries are basically YES. This was a strange problem, indeed. I stumbled into the solution by "updating" the official OpenCore 0.6.0 release to the latest build OpenCore 0.6.1. Built-in audio magically reappeared.

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ, I lost interest in updating Catalina when 10.15.5 broke built-in HDMI and Carbon Copy Cloner lost some backup abilities. My interest got piqued again recently when these issues were reportedly solved in 10.15.6 and OpenCore 0.6.0 was released. I must have missed something in your...

I'm just curious, has anyone at all succeeded in using the latest Clover to hackintosh any 10th Gen / Comet lake CPU? Everyone with seems to have shifted entirely to OpenCore.

[Solved] Catalina thinks my Corsair Commander Pro is a UPS

I had the same problem last December with 10.15.2. The simple permanent solution is simply this: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/success-gigabyte-designare-z390-thunderbolt-3-i7-9700k-amd-rx-580.267551/page-1116#post-2044503
