How To Install OS X Yosemite Using Clover

@lexone

on the first page config settings for iMessage, is Board Serial Number and Serial Number same?

I agree, it shows how well documented UniBeast and Chimera are. I compliment the hours of hard work put into these free source bootloaders and tools. Each and everyone.

I 2nd this comment WW - I commend the guys for all of their efforts in providing these great tools for us to get our systems up and running with as little pain/effort as possible. No one here has stated that you need to follow this guide and use Clover. That is entirely up to the user. The Admins & Moderators of this site did not develop Clover, but we are fortunate enough that they took the time to explain how to use it in place of our native tools. If you don't want iMessage, or don't care to utilize the benefits that Clover may provide, then disregard this thread and stick with Chimera.:clap:

Just in order to know, how many files do you have in your first partition ?
I've got one directory 'efi-backup' and osx-install application icon.

Remember, the EFI folder is located in the hidden EFI partition that needs to be mounted. clover will mount it when installing. but you need to mount it to modify it if you reboot.

http://blog.syedgakbar.com/2014/03/manually-installing-clover-on-efi-partition/

you can eject the usb when finished if you don't want to type the unmount command. It will ask to unmount all partitions you created on eject. this way it unmounts all in case you had more than one mounted.

Yes but what about the other partition ?
How many files ?

I'm wondering if the command lines works in my case ...I've got one directory 'efi-backup' and osx-install application icon.

I thought you needed to modify your EFI on your Clover USB so it would boot up.

That link will show you how to mount the clover EFI partition so you can edit the clover installation for drivers and config.plist configuration.

The guide is specifically for your boot drive, but you can replace the disk0s1 (which is your boot drive) to your usb (which is typically disk1s1) unless you have more than 1 drive installed.

Once on command line mode you can type, "diskutil list" and it will show all drives and all partitons. EFI will always be on the, "s1" partition.

This will be helpful at the end of step 2 of this, How to install... guide.

Question about picking ktexts in Clover.

With the Chimera/MultiBeast, I specified a DSDT from Downloads. In MultiBeast certain ktexts were then automatically checked and greyed out. In particular, NullCPUPowerManagement was NOT checked.

Does this mean I shouldn't be including NullCPUPowerManagement in EFI/CLOVER/ktext as per step 23? Or am I missing something?
EDIT: these steps refer to USB. Final install with Yosemite on SSD is different, and yes, doesn't have NullCPUPowerManagement.

MultiBeast looked at the DSDT and adjusted options with "greyed out". I'm thinking Clover Configuration doesn't. Clover itself?
EDIT: Yes, Clover does look at DSDT.

Suggestion:

Perhaps in the DSDT downloads section, a compatible config.plist could be added. (ouch, a lot of work). My googling suggest that iMessage needs Clover and the situation will just get worse, i.e. more OS X functionality is going to need Clover.

In step 2: Prepare Bootable USB drive, at step 17, it might be more clear to say "Hit Customize and apply the following custom settings". Then after all the pictures, add a following separate step that says "Hit the Install button". (When you're all excited, it can be easy to just want to go "install" :)

Yes. I have tried a different USB stick, as well as tested the current one with UniBeast, which works fine.

did you disable the secure boot mode in your BIOS?

Newbie here....
I installed Mavericks and Yosemite with Unibeast/Multibeast/Chimera.
All working fine.....even have iMessage on Mavericks.

But I want iMessage on Yosemite so I will do a Yosemite/Clover install.

I have a Gigabyte CA Z87N Wifi Motherboard. I'm using on board graphics and sound.

Should I install just checking off the items in the Clover Guide in this topic?
Should I click on the kext links in the guide or are there updated ones available?

I am going to prepare my USB drive tonite and install tomorrow after work.

Wish me luck!

Len
