Cheap Computer for Video Editing/Visual Effects HOBBY

The case comes with two 120mm fans. There is one at the bottom, and one on the back. I will be getting a GB GTX 650 Ti card in the future. I will also be mounting my hard drive and SSD somewhere... maybe on the bottom if I don't place fans down there.

It is always good to have incoming cool air moving over HDDs if possible. I would be tempted to go with the standard setup and see how your temps look with some real editing usage. That will tell you where you need to make changes if any. I would probably experiment with moving the rear case fan to the top of the case (heat rises - so it makes sense to use the top options.

Install HW Monitor & Fake SMC Plugins from MultiBeast/Drivers/Misc section and use these to monitor all temps.

I'm a little concerned because the drives are mounted at the bottom in the pictures... maybe I should use the side mount to attach the drives.

The first thing that I need to say to you is that you really have no reason to be concerned. once you have the build running you will be able to experiment with drive placement. The PSU will remove some air in the lower part of the case and may be sufficient to help pull air over your drives.

UPDATE: I have all of the parts (except the graphics card) and I have started building! I also bought 2 extra fans, but I need to look into how I can connect all of the fans to my build.

If you have PWM fans then they should connect straight onto the motherboard. fan splitter cables are available if required. I wouldn't worry too much at this moment. It is often better to try some experimentation with fans over a period of time. This case/chassis certainly makes it more necessary than normal. I think that you should be pleasantly sup prised at the ability of this build, even without the GPU.

I completed the build! All I need to do now is install OSX!

PS: I ended up daisy chaining the fans with some molex adapters I bought at Microcenter.

I installed OSX successfully! (I'm typing this message on the Hackintosh) However, there is one problem. When I first boot my machine, after Chimera and the grey apple logo, the screen goes fuzzy for about 20 seconds, then it boots into OSX. What do you think could be the cause of this?

Genuinely don't know why it would appear fuzzy before booting to desktop. Let it settle by booting a few times to see if there is any change. Are you using a 1920x1080 screen with DVI-D or HDMI connection? If so did you set the 1080P option in MultiBeast? Just a thought.

I rebooted a couple of times, and it did not have the fuzzy screen only one time. My MultiBeast boot option is set to 1080p display mode, but it still booted with the fuzzy screen before I checked that option. I am using a 1600x900 monitor through HDMI, but OSX sees it as a 1080p monitor.
