thanks :)

i had some usb port issues on the 4540s in an attempt to to do a fresh install.... so i used a clone with superduper of a clean 10.8.2 install (without any extra kexts) for this build (as i do normaly and always with success ) .... but since it seems that i cant solve this, i will try to do a fresh install instead

Since you're installing 10.8.5, make sure to use the latest ProBook Installer (6.1.5).

just downloaded it :)

i have the 10.8.2.app to begin with (works fine for all my sandy builds)... or do your recommend me to download the 10.8.5.app for this 4540s ivy install?

For the 4540s, I would not start with anything less than 10.8.4. For you, at this point, that means 10.8.5.

with 10.8.4 or 10.8.5 installed i finally do get the hd 4000 to work :)

...the only thing is that in bothe of them i cant get power management screen brightness controls sound etc to work anymore with every possible combination in the 6.1.5 probook installer :(

as well i noticed that a successful boot depends on the org chameleon boot.plist and the smbios.plist which i copied from core builders posts

http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook/73194-hp-probook-4540s-working-file-4.html

without them i cant seem to get the 1366x768 resolution to work and most of the times i doesnt even boot into osx

do you have any suggestions?

What exactly is "power management screen brightness controls sound etc"

The key to using the ProBook Installer is using the correct set of options, not "every possible combination."

The ProBook Installer will give you an /Extra folder that works. No need to look elsewhere...

Let us know what exact options you're choosing in the ProBook Installer and exactly what is wrong.

Getting this KP after update to ML 10.8.5 (combo). Failed to boot from HDD.
Tried ProBook Installer (PBI) 6.1.4 - 6.1.6 but same result.
I noticed in pacifist, PBI 6.1.4 - 6.1.6 don't contain patched AppleHDA and AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.
Code:
Via USB boot √:
Sound X
Display √
USB3 √
Wifi √
BT √
Betray √
HDMI not tested
Need urgent help

If you already ran the ProBook Installer, it should have created a patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement for you (assuming you selected from "OS X support kexts"), but you may have a kext cache issue?

Try booting with "-f". If that doesn't work, boot your install using the Unibeast USB (definitely use "-f") and try the ProBook Installer v6.1.6. Report any errors or /var/log/install.log.

you need to inject EFI STRING in your org.chameleon.Boot.plist
Code:
<string>7f0000000100000001000000730000000200000002010c00d041030a000000000101060000027fff04002c0000004100410050004c002c00690067002d0070006c006100740066006f0072006d002d006900640000000800000003006601140000006800640061002d0067006600780000000d0000006f6e626f6172642d31</string>

To make HD4000 work in Probook 4540s. Else don't work for me and few of my friend's cases.

DONT ASK! DON'T KNOW WHY. JUST AN OBSERVATION.
