Try:
cp /Volumes/USB/mach_kernel /Volumes/Mountain\ Lion/

I actually figured it out before you posted this. My drive is labeled Mountain Lion, not MountainLion, so it was having an issue with not having a space in the command itself, so I just added quotes around it with the space and voila, bingo bango bongo! Here's the code that worked..:

cp /Volumes/USB/mach_kernel /Volumes/"Mountain Lion"/

I wonder if what you suggested would work as well... None the less, thanks for the support!

I'm getting an error when trying to copy mach_kernel, anyone have any ideas? Details as follows:

cp /Volumes/USB/mach_kernel /Volumes/MountainLion/

I get error cp: /Volumes/MountainLion is not a directory. So I tried:

cp /Volumes/USB/mach_kernel /Volumes/MountainLion (without the final slash)

This seems to work but now I get error cp: /Volumes/MountainLion: No space left on device.

USB Drive is labeled as USB, Drive where OSx Mountain Lion is installed (purchased from app store) is called Mountain Lion. The install went smoothly until this point.

Here's my build:

Gigabyte Z87x-UD3H
I7 4770k
16gb corsair vengence DDR3 1600
2 Samsung 250gb SSD (one for win7, one for mountainlion)
1 WD 2TB Black (storage for both OS, will format later once all is up and running)
EVGA 650Ti

Any thoughts out there? I've tried many combinations of the above code but I can't get it to copy so I haven't bothered going onto the next step yet

If still out of luck can you do this in Terminal and post results:

diskutil list

Win 8, Mountain Lion Dual Boot
All went well by following the exact instruction plus the graphicsenabler=no, applied the timefix registry on win 8. So far ok, except the following glitches:

- On Win 8 Restart (warmboot) to Hackintosh, USB Keyboard and Mouse doesn't work, but strange enough on cold boot and even Hackintosh restart (warmboot) it works....
- Win 8 booting paused at Win Logo for almost 1 minute while the Hackintosh drive is present, if I take it out, it boots really fast, hopefully there is a fix to tell Win8 to ignore that drive
- As everybody said iCloud Facetime etc. doesn't work

My config is:

Gigabyte Z87MX-D3H-CF
Haswell i7 4770K
16G Ram
GTX 760 2G Ram
Focusrite Forte
Pace iLOK 2

Hi all, I would love some help if anyone is giving it out :)

I have a gigabyte GA h87m -d3h , i4770k, corsair neutron 256gb, 32gb ram, and gtx 650ti...
I have created the USB install disk, patched it with haswell helper, booted the machine, installed 10.8.4.....
Rebooted, copied the USB kernel to the ssd, reboot to usb, select ML drive
and then this is when I hit a snag.

I get stuck on a white apple screen that just sits there. I have my bios set to the recommended settings, I have tried to move the usb install disk to the rear ports (this worked on a previous build for me once) I have tried various boot strings (-v-x-F-s) I have tried PCIRootUID=0,

any advice would be hugely appreciated, I am about to put it back in the box, and go back to my Ivy board and Processor... sigh...

Use -GraphicsEnabler=No, that should do the trick

when you get to this white screen sleep your machine (hit power button if bios setting are right) then awake from sleep and you should be ok. at least this is what i have to do on boot..

Thanks Guys, Tried Graphics enabler - no dice, will try the soft power option, I have to pick up another power supply, as i dont want to keep swapping out boards etc into my case, and I need a machine to work on, so the Ivy chip and board is in my case atm. I kept the install on my ssd though, so I will try that asap...

Hi Everybody,
Firstly, thank you to everyone who did the hard work to make the above happen, and thanks in advance for looking at this.

I have just upgraded to the following:
GA-Z87-HD3
i5 4570
and I am using my existing AMD 6870.

I used to have a X58 and I never had any real problems with it.

However, on boot to the ML install I get the following error:
PCI configuration begin

I have taken the various diagnostic steps using PCIRootUID=0 and npci=0x2000
npci=0x3000 with no result.

I have concerns either that I need to change some Bios settings, or need to type in an additional command.

Could anyone possibly provide some insight that may help me?

I want to try and collate my findings so other users with the same MB may find it easier in the future.

Thanks again,
Chalima

Hi Chalima

Have you first tried to boot with the flag -x and see if that works.

regards Sqishy

Hi Squishy,
Yes I tried that as well.

Sorry, I neglected to mention it.

Thanks
