HP ProBook Installer 6.1 (beta): Ivy bridge support

See the half-sized section in here:
View attachment 59994If you have 4x40s, I would recommend Atheros AR5BHB92 (ar9280 chipset).

thanks for that. i'll try to find that on the hp site, and was was on the apple site and saw the new laptops come with 802.11ac.
i think i'll wait a bit more to see if i can get the 802.11ac to try in the probook.

You can use Disk Utility to shrink your current partitions and add another
do i have to do anything like update grub, windows to recognise the extra partition? noob territory here.

If you want to get a WiFi card for the time being, this should be perfect http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Atheros-AR9280-AR5BHB92-Half-PCI-E-Wireless-Card-300M-/160510168523

Disk Utility should recognise all your partitions and should have no affect on Windows. Although, I do not know what grub is

On a side note, philip_petev, how can I change the Built-in ProBook 4x30s Display to say 4340s? (I ran the EDID generator)

Go to /S/L/Displays/Overrides, find the folder for your display (it should be the latest created, check the date of creation), open the file inside the folder with a text editor of choice (it's pure xml plist) and change the value of the corresponding key from "Built-in ProBook..." to whatever you want.

Here are my two DSDTs, _backedup.aml is the one found in the old PBI, and the _NEW is the one generated from the PBI.

View attachment 59990

I think the difference might be that in 'backedup' you used the USB3 DSDT patch (maybe... I can see differences in EHCI section), and the new one created by the ProBook Installer does not use that patch because it messes with proper operation of GenericUS3XHCI.kext. Or something like that... I don't really know as I do not have a 4x40s and do not have even USB3 on my Probook 4530s.

Also, the ARPT patch is different with addition of _SUN in 'backedup'. And _PWR returns Package() { 9, 4 } in backedup vs. Package() { 9, 5 } in the case of 'new'.

Those would be the first two areas to start experimenting with. Perhaps the AR9285 patch is not quite right for AR9287?? Or it has something to do with how your USB3 is setup. The ProBook Installer expects USB3 to be handled by GenericUSB3XHCI not DSDT patches for native AppleXHCI.

Interesting points to look into, thank your for doing the differential on the DSDTs. Regarding WiFi, it is a common patch to all device-ids that need enabling that way - it should be called AR928x as it will work with any card: http://www.tonymacx86.com/network/58146-guide-airport-half-mini-pcie.html. I guess as the 4x30s range only allowed for AR9285 chipsets it made sense.

Is it possible that there are others with a 4x40s Ivy Bridge, will have similar problems with me regarding sleep from the DSDT generator?

We could rename it...

I haven't heard of any, that's why I think its wise to do a fresh install to compare.

Hi,

I have a problem with my 4530s laptop.

It was a clean install 10.8.0 and then combo update to 10.8.3 (installed with HP ProBook Installer 6.1 (beta 13).)

When I pluged USB 3.0 External Hard Drive, my laptop is freezed.

And when I boot with USB 3.0 External Hard Drive, it showed kenel panic.
(I attach the picture).

USB 3.0 worked a week before and suddenly it doesn't.

I reinstalled everything but it made same problem.

Please let me know if someone knows how to solve this problem.

Thank you.
