Thanks, I'll try it when I have a chance. I haven't checked my version, but since I ordered and got my board in May and therefore only downloaded the BIOS at that point I assume (but will check before wasting my own time!) that I have the newer version. With my version, I succeeded in obtaining a patch version using PMPatch, as in it generated an output file, but I'm hoping the update broke something we need. I've read similar issues with more recent BIOS's for my current (very stable) ASUS P8P67 Deluxe build with the newer ones causing a permanent issue with Audio. So I'll keep my fingers crossed. Many thanks and I'll let you know how it goes.

Edit: Just read coderush's comment, hmm maybe that's my issue-I managed to patch a patched bios! :S

There is no need to patch BIOS for this board anymore.
I proposed this patch (as long as some other overclocking-related stuff) to Zotac BIOS developers and they agreed to integrate it.
More to say, check out the changes in vanilla DSDT. ;)

I don't have OS X to test right now, but certainly I'm waiting for new DSDT and other stuff for new BIOS. As far as I have tested, it's much better then all previous releases, at lest in terms of overclocking.
Great job, CodeRush!
I flashed BIOS using Zotac Windows utility with new Zotac BIOS release. Everything is working as expected on Mountain Lion 10.8.4! Here's what I did:
  • Booted the system into Windows
  • downloaded new Zotac bios
  • flashed BIOS following Zotac instructions (put the content of the unzipped folder into a new folder C:BIOS, then run the update command)
  • loaded optimized default and set bios as stated in op
  • rebooted into OSX typing DSDT=Null flag in Chimera screen
  • opened MaciASL and patched the dsdt with Z77-ITX patch under PJALM Zotac + toleda's AMI-HD4000-7_Series-A3 patch under Audio HDMI Ivy Bridge/HD4000/7 Series
  • compiled (0 Errors, 0 Warnings, 0 Remarks, XX Optimizations) DSDT
  • saved DSDT.aml (added extension manually) on desktop (File Format: ACPI Machine Language Binary)
  • made a backup of the old /Extra/dsdt.aml
  • replaced the old dsdt.aml with the new one in /Extra
  • rebooted

Thanks CodeRush!
Updated post 4.
Please report results!

I'm wondering if I have a fault with my board or processor. I have found an (hopefully the) issue with my graphics. Or more accurately a symptom of the problem.

The HD4000 kexts aren't loading. I have been able to manually load AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext and AppleIntelHD4000Graphics.kext and add them to the kextcache to successfully boot with full resolution. But obviously no acceleration. I'm still looking into manually loading the bundles (I discovered this at almost midnight last night so didn't get a chance to look around). Ideally I need to find out why the kexts aren't loading automatically, because at the moment any failed boot obviously removes the kexts from the cache and I have to reload and add them again, not ideal!!

On a similar note, the DRMStatus error I have been getting is apparently linked to Graphics Enabler injection (or through DSDT injection I have discovered), can't remember where I read it, but it seems to be true from testing, in that with GE=no and no DSDT installed, it disappears! Of course that gives me a failed boot at the moment since HD4000 doesn't seem to be recognised without some form of injection. I will test with other profile injections and report.

I have also noticed that with just the Capri framebuffer loading (Occurs in Safe mode -x) the graphics are recognised as HD4000 id 01628086, but with full resolution(achieved by method above) has the id 01668086. Of course, in both cases, it also shows with 768MB of VRAM, I assume this is linked to the lack of acceleration, since my BIOS settings are as those in post #1. I know the 01628086 id is injected by Chimera with GE=Y. Unfortunately, both id's are in the kexts PCIMatch. I did try patching them and removing the 01668086 id, but that resulted in the HD4000 not being loaded at all (even using the kextcache) so is a no go. I will try patching out the 01628086 id and report on that too.

Hi everyone, hi Giacomoleopardo,
I'm trying to get the zotac z77 board working for me. Here is what I did:
Installed using unibeast method without issues. After mulibeast install i got kp because of the intelcpupowermanagement. went back into bios and realized it was an old version. did the upgrade. after that it booted fine.
out of lazyness i just put in the dsdt.aml file from the 4th post. now i get the kp again, again intelcpupowermanagement. i've tried booting with dsdt=null -f -v but no luck, still the kp.
What am I doing wrong? can i avoid doing a complete reinstall?
Thank you so much for your help!

Cheers,
Fleisch

parallel, did you come to a solution? Honestly I'm a little short of ideas, here! If I were in your shoes, I'd try with a fresh install from scratch (if you don't already have). Sorry, but can't help!

Are you positive about BIOS release? 'Cause only the last one doesn't need to be unlocked. If yes, I suggest not to use my dsdt, but just compiling your own one. If you need me to do it, please post your clean dsdt extracted with MaciASL as explained in post #1/Step 3/UPDATE 8.

Hi G, I'm still head scratching at the moment. I've posted for help here:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/60010-official-hd-4000-support-27.html

And will have to await a reply.

I'm grateful for all the help you have provided, so no worries that you have no more ideas. You've been a great help already.

Btw, The DSDT Patch for HD4000 injection seems to end up in the wrong section. According to Toleda here:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...d3000-hd4000-amd-nvidia-working-together.html

It should be under IGPU, but the patches from pjalm put it under MEM2. I tend to agree since with it under MEM2 and using GE=N, I can't boot out of safe mode, with it under IGPU, GE=N allows me to boot out of safe mode, but I have no acceleration as previously noted and it "gives" me 768MB VRAM.
EDIT PICNIC Error! I concur, the patch does what it should!

Anyway, thanks for all your help, hopefully I'll find a solution soon. I'll post here if / when I do. When, When I do - must be positive!

Hmm, that is quite strange... I can guarantee that PJALM's patches work as they should! And definitely GE=Yes should give you success. Did you try install from scratch? What bios release?

So, a question to all those running just the HD 4000 in their Zotac builds. Do you have issues with iTunes not allowing you to actually watch purchased videos and giving you a green screen?
I hadn't really noticed this before as I had been using a discrete card and that did not give this issue. However, the combination of the HD 4000 and my (old) HD TV gives me at the moment unplayable iTunes purchased videos - and it is not just HD videos, but standard def too. Non iTunes movies are fine........so I am sure this is a result of some sort of DRM but it is driving me nuts. Ironically if I home share the videos from my hack to my Mac Book Air (with HD 4000) I can watch them.

Hi minihack, I've never purchased videos from iTunes, so I can't tell for sure. Let's see if somebody here has the same issue. That is quite strange, does it happen only with Zotac boards?
