Official CustoMac Mini 2012 Guide and Notes (in progress)

remove the graphics card and try booting

if that doesnt work try
GraphicsEnabler=No
(the opposite of whatever the default is)

then download DSDT if there is one for that board

failing that, reinstall OS after reformatting destination drive from disk utility - securely so its zero'd out, (not the fastest one)

i always restore an image of the OS's to a 2nd mini partition (8gig) so i can always get back to where i was, then transfer files from backup (minus anything problematic following), and if using SSD installs in a few minutes and you can launch it from IBOOT, Unibeast - whatever

DSDT should not be required for this board - UEFI board.

Booting this time from native graphics (Intel 4000), graphics card is removed.

So writing this from my OS, but showed up as a non-Admin in the system and I can only boot in Safe Mode (-x). I can download Multibeast, but cannot execute the file because I am not an admin.

So - how do I format the drive? Following the Unibeast instructions, there is no "format the drive" like in a Win 7 build, just a partition. I tried "Erase" in Disc Utility menu, got that, but cannot find "Format."

Any other ideas?

Just a heads up. Newegg has several parts from the CustoMac Mini on sale today.

h77n-wifi + i3 3225 everything working great.

But when I boot, usb takes a while to be recognized. Mountain lion boots and you move the mouse or type on keyboard and nothing happens. After 2 or 3 seconds it start work

Is it normal?

I've seen this several times with ML, and it was actually networking taking so long to configure on boot; whilst this is happening the mouse/keyboard just dont respond at all.

Check your network configuration settings for IPV6.

Something else that seems to have gone unnoticed on this forum is the fact that ML randomly loses the hostname settings and just leaves it blank. During your first 5-6 boots following installation, go to System Prefs, and check what it says under 'Sharing' for the Hostname. Also check the Hostname and Workgroup for each device in the Networking part too.

It often loses both after the tiniest of changes to your system, which in turn starts to slow things down as well as screwing up the network.

One thing that does slightly improve things (But doesnt fix it 100%) is to change the default 'Location' in the network settings from 'Automatic' to something else.

ML networking seems flaky at best. Lets hope 10.8.3 can fix some of this.

Same for me jmpa, about 3 seconds for my usb devices to wake before can start typing etc.

Thanks for the answer. But to be honest I don't have any kind of problems with internet. My internet is ipv4 and works perfect.
The problem with usb keeps happen if I don't have the ethernet cable connected...

EDIT: I solved it! Just go to power management in bios and enable "ehci hand-off" :D

Hi All, Just built this mini Hack, read through this whole thread, but have the weirdest issue! Usually people have issues sleeping.. For me, the system will not work UNTIL I sleep and wake from sleep - then it's off to the races.

Unibeast with 10.8.2
MultiBeast:
UserDSDT/NoDSDT (did not use DSDT)
ALC892 (without DSDT)
Realtek Ethernet driver from 10.7 (NOT Lnx2Mac)... the NICs on this thing seem very quirky!

Z77N-wifi + i3 3225 -- no DSDT (tried, but I started getting KPs)

a. Using internal HD4000 graphics on lower HDMI port or DVI>VGA adapter the display is scrambled. To resolve I have to press the power button to initiate sleep, hit a key on the keyboard to wake the system. The system comes up in a very low resolution - open System Prefs - change resolution to 1080i (or anything other than 1080p) and back to 1080p and everything is great.

b. I installed a GeForce 210 to try to bypass the display issues. Display comes up great, but mouse/keyboard do not respond. Once I do a sleep/wake cycle, everything is good!

One thing that comes up in console while my USB is dead is:
kernel: IOHIDSystem: postEvent LLEventQueue overflow
com.apple.launchd: (com.apple.coreservices.applid.authentication[115]) Exit timeout elapsed (20 seconds) Killing

I also let the system sleep for about 20 minutes, woke it up and got a Kernel Panic while I was taking a photo of the screen (with my phone)

Any ideas? I've reinstalled several times now - limiting changes to each iteration and I'm stuck as to the next steps.

Thanks!

Hello!

I want to buy Customac Mini "Deluxe" configuration with Board Gigabyte Z77N-WIFI and Intel Core i7-3770K

Well, Can you confirm that WiFi of this board is working? And, If I buy bluetooth adapter, can I make the OSX installation with an Apple Keyboard and Magic Mouse, both bluetooth?

Thanks a lot in advance!

I have the h77n itx, but i think is a same motherboard, only difference is from the chipset h or z. The wifi is a same for all, change with one compatible and you working natively with 9280 or 93x chips from athereos, with 9285, 9287 you modified the kext. Read to the start and found a guide for wifi, only big problem ( for me) sleep but never backup.
Bluetooth working but only the keyboard working, magic trackpad dead

Let me know how it goes. Perhaps you'll have better luck with the RealTek drivers?

I am still trying to figure out what exactly is preventing my machine from sleeping correctly... I can confirm that with a clean install, 1x 80 Gb hard drive, i3 3225, 2x 4GB ram and nothing else, display connected to lower HDMI out, with 10.8.2 & identical MultiBeast options as post #1, manually triggered sleep works, wake up takes several minutes and auto-sleep does not work.

Just did another clean install, this time using the RealTek drivers, and both manual & auto-sleep appears to work, wake up has no delay. So I guess it will be RealTek drivers for me.

Now I'll try to reconnect my BluRay drive to see if sleep will still work.

Edit: well apparently the auto-sleep works at least *sometimes* with MultiBeast settings in post #1. The BluRay drive seem to have a contribution in my system sleep issues, but even when it is disconnected I still get wake-ups that take several minutes.

Hi Boum.

So I installed windows on my second hard drive with all the drivers needed for my motherboard and my new graphic card (Geforce GTX 650). The ethernet ports worked very well with Windows7 and also every thing !
So I came back on Mountain Lion and guess what : the ethernet port were working too. Just a little issue with the GeForce GTX650 but nothing important (just graphicsEnabler=0). So I made a new install of Mountain Lion and almost all works ! Except USB 3 and HDMI audio.
Did you already have any of these issues ?
I try again with the DSDT files to try to fix the hdmi audio issue but I know that when I installed with the DSDT files I had problem this the sleep : It was impossible to wake up...
Do I need to setup something to got USB 3 working ?

Thank you

You will need a wired keyboard and mouse for installation. After everything is up and running, you can pair a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but they don't function until the OS has completely booted.

Edit: also of note, bluetooth occasionally goes wonky and won't work for a couple of restarts. Having a wired kb nearby is very helpful.
