FIX OemSMBIOS / Spinning Wheel

I am getting spinning wheels after updating the 10.8.2 combo update. Have to start restoring all over again to 10.8.1.

You should download the edited AppleACPIPlatform.kext from my previous post boot up with -f -x put it on the desktop with Kextbeast and run it then reboot with -f.

::::FOR EVERYBODY::::

THIS METHOD HAS WORKED THROUGH ALL THE 10.8.2 BETAS AND WORKS 100% NOW

THIS FIXES THE OemSMBIOS PROBLEM WITHOUT HAVING TO DELETE IT FROM FAKESMC.kext

THIS MEANS YOU WON'T LOOSE YOUR SYSTEM DEFINITION AND SERIAL NUMBER WHICH WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH SOME APPLE SOFTWARE AND ACTIVATED 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE.

IF YOU HAVE CONSTANT SPINNING WHEEL OR ARE RECEIVING ERRORS ABOUT OemSMBIOS.kext THIS WILL LIKELY FIX IT.

Gigabyte zma68-d2h-b3/sandy bridge 2105/hd3000

same here, multibeast installation keeps failing

Disabling VT-d worked for me!

Board Intel DH77EB
Nvidia 560
i5
Ssd

GA X79 UD5 3930k GTX580,
Performed update on my Carbon Copy Cloner external drive,
Before reboot, installed all my original kexts with Kext utility.
Restart with -x,
Reset my Desktop (always lose my color settings and arrangement when I boot with -x)
Reboot- All is good.
Use CCC to clone external drive back to SSD.

Mine doesn't boot. It just keeps spinning with the apple logo and the white screen. I use GraphicsEnabler=no, but my keyboard dont work in MultiBeast boot (but it works in Bios).

What to do?

In your bios set keyboard to "USB Legacy", or something similar, then it will work in the boot screen.

Well, after 3 hours of futile attempts I gave up and re-installed 10.8.0 from my UniBeast drive (at least that was pain-free).

I had the same problem of spinning wheel on the grey background, but unlike the rest of the people, the failure seemed to occur at various stages of the boot up. When I tried to remove
OEMsmbios.kext from /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/Plugins/ I couldn't, because it didn't exist there. There is no Plugins directory at all. I also never installed FakeSMC from Multibeast.

Maybe my problem could be related to the fact I had to install a custom-made DSDT to enable HDMI-audio along with the RealTek887 AppleHDA kext? Perhaps this DSDT calls for some functions which don't exist in the newly-updated AppleHDA kext?

Anyway removing the DSDT didn't always work for me and in the end I just became too frustrated.

LOST audio on GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 and i7 2600k gigabyte 6870 .Everything else appears to be ok.Simply run multibeast . bingo audio

Hmm, my Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 died. I did the update via software update, and rebooted, and now it is stuck on grey screen with the Apple logo and the spinning circle......

worked fine with fakesmc plugin deleting..

gigabyte z68xp-ud3 rev 1.3
i7 2600k
gtx 560 ti

Failure: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3. Installed via Software Update, and now it's stuck on the Apple Logo and spinning wheel. It is using the HD3000 builtin graphics.

I tried booting with -x and that didn't do anything. Any other ideas? Will deleting FakeSMC.kext fix the problem?

I used both, the link here first and then the update through my mac its self. Both times I got the apple boot screen and and it would spin until I got a KP. What would anyone suggest I do to try and get the update to work??
