Issue with the USB 3.0 chip (renesas)

I'm glad someone noticed the VIA description. My mother board spec says it is a Renesas chip. Belarc's advisor profile also says its a Renesas chip. Can this ID error be part of the problem??

Yes according to your motherboard specs the USB 3.0 is using NEC D720200 chip. This chipset is known not to work with this driver in ML (from what thelostswede has reported and tested) whereas NEC/Renesas D720202 works pretty well (I'm using this chipset on PCIe card).

LaCie has posted a new 10.8 Driver for USB 3.0

LaCie Mac Driver USB 3.0 for LaCie ExpressCard or PCIe board only, for Mac OS 10.6 and 10.7 and 10.8 (Mountain Lion).

Sweet, thanks for the heads up

Update: Ok, we've done a quick test, but this driver needs some more advanced patching than the CalDigit one, as we could only make it work at USB 2.0 speed, so this one might be more of a challenge to make work...

Hello,

This is a tiny bit off subject but can you tell me if the USB3 works natively on the Z77M boards? If so I am getting rid of the Z68MX and going with the Z77MX.

I need USB3 and have now lost it on all 3 of my hack systems 2x H67N's and 1 Z68MX.

IIRC all 7 series boards are using Intel chipset for USB3.0 whereas previous boards are using either Etron, Asmedia, VIA or NEC/Renesas chips and I've read some posts saying that the latest 10.8.1 supports Intel's USB3.0 natively. Try to search and read those posts.

Yes my friend, I already new about all the effort to get USB3 working with 6 series boards as I have several. I have searched the forums and can't find any definite information on Intel builtin USB3 working well or not. I was considering buying a Z77M board to get USB3. I have 2-H67N boards and 1-Z68MX and Mountain Lion broke what little USB3 I had working. It would seem that USB3 on a Hackintosh just isn't going to work out for now. It would seem Thunderbolt isn't working well either.

Maybe we are being shut out of any high speed conections with Mountain Lion. Anyone know if the CalDidgit USB3 card will work with a Hackintosh running Mountain Lion. It's pricey but I am willing to pay it for high speed conections if I know it will work.

The results are kind of mix with success and failure or may be luck. Yes there is no definitive answer as for my case I'm happy with my $11 USB 3.0 card because it's working flawlessly ( maybe I'm lucky ? ) :)

Hello

I have found a patch to get USB 3.0 working for the GA-X58-UDR3 Rev 2 Boards, after much searching I found that some kext's for DP3 which work and seem pretty stable http://www.osx86.net/view/2870-pxhcd.kext.html
