I know it's probably different if you're using a graphics card, but what's the standard rule of thumb for this build using only HD3000 graphics regarding GE=NO or GE=YES or leaving the flag out of the plist?

I think I have always had GE=NO and it works, but that may have been just to get started, is it necessary? I'll probably experiment after I backup anyway, but I thought I'd ask and possibly save time.

.....and I also don't understand how come my system, being exactly like others with same settings, OS, hardware, etc, could have different issues which obligates me to change settings to something else..

my guess it that your system is, in fact, not exactly like the others. something somewhere is different.

Just be aware that by using the Mac pro profile using the HDMI port as a standalone port for video (e.g. if your Hack mini shall be a Media Center working on a TV via HDMI) - will NOT work. For this the system definition "Mac mini" is necessary.
Not true. Chimera enables HD3000 video regardless of the system definition. The HDMI audio edited dsdts (2nd post of this thread) inject the macmini system definition information independent of the system definition specified in smbios.plist. To summarize, with Chimera and an edited dsdt (with HD3000 HDMI audio/Audio ID 389 or without HD3000 HDMI audio/Audio ID 889), you can use any system definition on your CustoMac Mini.
Mmh... that's strange. When I set up my system I could only use HDMI (my TV) as a main monitor when I set the system definition to Mac Mini. It was Mac Pro before but it only booted properly via DVI or by using GE=no.

Read my response carefully; with a dsdt from Post 2 of this thread, you can use macmini, macpro, imac, etc. If you are using a different dsdt, some configurations won't work as noted above. By installing the edited dsdt, the macpro3,1 system definition and HD3000 HDMI video DOES work on the CustoMac Mini.

Can't boot from Lion 10.7.2 HD -

Hi everyone,

I've scoured this thread and the forums for help with my issue with no luck.

I am able to install Lion 10.7.2 via the UniBeast method; however, when I restart and attempt to boot from the HD, the system hangs at the Apple Logo with the spinning grey wheel (which will stop spinning and hang). This happens with GraphicsEnabled=No (which I used to get the installer to run).

I have all my BIOS settings correct. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you -

Nick

Has anyone successfully updated this build to Mountain Lion and if so can they put a step by step guide to what they did up?

Thanks,

MacNewGuy

I had the same problem, with GraphicsEnabler=Yes the spinning wheel would freeze on startup.

My solution was to enable the Mac Mini system definition. Now it works great, full 1080p resolution.

mountain lion?

has anyone successfully installed mountain lion on the mac mini build? Just curious if there were step by step instructions.

Guess no luck with mountain lion... :(
