Ok- since I have built the CustoMac Mini 2011, and recommended it, I've decided to host a CustoMac Mini 2011 Help thread. In general this build is working incredibly well for me.

Building a Sandy Bridge CustoMac: CustoMac Mini 2011
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/09/ ... tomac.html

This top post will be updated with all relevant information about this particular build, and steps needed to get it working. Please understand that building a custom machine for OS X is a difficult, and sometimes frustrating process. Hackintoshing is NOT a plug-n-play project.

Update and Configure BIOS:
Update your BIOS to F7 from the Gigabyte website: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/BI ... -b3_f7.exe
-In Mac OS X, use Stuffit Expander to extract the .f7 file from the .exe. ;)
-Load Optimized Defaults and reboot
-384mb shared video RAM for onboard graphics with 4GB RAM.
-480mb shared video RAM for onboard graphics with 8GB RAM.
-HPET 64 bit mode
-SATA to AHCI mode

Troubleshooting:
Make sure you've followed all Troubleshooting Tips
System Partition/Drive needs to be less than 1TB.
Type -x at Chimera boot screen for safe mode.
Use rBoot to rescue-boot your hard drive.
Use Macmini5,1 system definition

Things to note about the CustoMac Mini 2011:
First, if you have this build, you should know first off that you'll need to be on Lion to make it work well. Full graphics acceleration over HDMI/HDMI in dual screens is working as of 10.7.x.

Second- make sure you've read both the iBoot + MultiBeast guide, and the xMove + MultiBeast guides on my blog, and understand the nature of hackintosh in general.

Third- know that since this is a Sandy Bridge system, things are a bit different when updating to 10.6.8, in order to get to Lion. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/07/ ... -1068.html

Fourth- this is a build that we just got working correctly- there are bound to be things that we haven't optimized yet. Intel HD 3000 has only really been working for a short while.

Fifth- better graphics drivers are on the way. 10.7.2 is coming very very soon.

This guide is a work in progress. ;)

Alternate CustoMac Mini Parts

Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 Mini-ITX Motherboard
This board is another ITX option by Gigabyte, that's no-frills. If you really need DVI, and don't want any SATA6 ports.

For those who need a single-slot graphics card that's compatible, these will fit in the case, and are relatively low power cards. Please help me add to this list if you have tested. :D

Thank you very much Tony, it's very helpful. ;)
And I have a question, What's not working? :p Expect the VGA port. It's very sad that I have to buy an HDMI cable if I want a CustoMac Mini.

Are we supposed to install User DSDT to get to 10.6.6 and then do it again to get to 10.7, or will doing it once be enough.

Thanks!

You can use iBoot or rBoot to boot all the way until 10.7.1- then simply use MultiBeast 4.0.2.

How does one use 512 mb shared memory on this board. With the F7 bios I only have 480+2? I have 8Gb Memory installed.

I've run the system with 480+2 and 384 with 4gb and 8gb- it doesn't make much difference- but I've gone with 384 as that's the max that the mini uses with 4gb. Run some benchmarks and see what works best- then post here.

I have one annoying problem I just can't figure out with this install. I always wind up with the BOOT file and another Multi.log file showing in the root folder. The BOOT file is normally hidden. Any idea what is wrong?

Yes- it's a bug in MultiBeast- it will be fixed very soon. You can delete the .log file, and chflags hidden /boot in terminal. Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks so much. I've bought precisely this system and am working on it now. One question: the guide says to update to 10.6.6, but then notes that Sandy Bridge systems need to use UpdateHelper to get to 10.6.8. Is that note just an aside? Is there any reason at all to go past 10.6.6?

And just a random note: my VGA port works, at least in 10.6.0, which is as far as I've gotten.
