Gigabyte Z690 Aero G + i5-12600K + AMD RX 6800 XT

Thank you for the great guide, you're always a hero @CaseySJ Don't know how long you spend on these configs but it really is an astonishing job! Everything usually works like magic.

On my end I have a problem with HDR. It's not available in System Prefs -> Display. I'm using RX 6600 (not XT).
I have another hackintosh assembled with one of your other guides and HDR works (but it's RX 590). The HDR Display is the same and DisplayPort cable is the same.

I tried your GPU fix but it didn't help. Is there a way you can point me in the right direction? Thanks a lot!
Hello @Anastasius,

On which system are you experiencing the HDR issue?
  • Which motherboard and CPU?
  • Which version of macOS?
  • What is the make/model of the monitor?

I am having two NVMe (SN850), one with windows, the other with Macos, both in PCIe 4 slot. Before 12.3.1 all was ok, but now, an eternal Macos loading bar. But if I use verbose mode it load well. A little bit weird!
That is indeed weird. Enabling verbose technically shouldn't make a difference, but hey, stranger things have happened! Consider unchecking NVMeFix.kext from the Kernel section of config.plist and reboot. Does it make a difference?

Another thing to check:
  • Enable verbose mode (CMD-V at OpenCore boot picker)
  • Boot macOS
  • Launch Terminal
  • Type this: log show --last boot | grep 'trims took'
  • Post the output

P.S. HDR works on HDMI port but my configuration requires DisplayPort.
Unfortunately, HDR works only if you connect your DisplayPort cable to the Thunderbolt port; using DP->DP connection HDR is disabled.

I have tryed with 2 EFIs, one in Opencore 0.7.7 and the other in OC 0.8.0 (Both w/ same Monterrey 12.3.1):

First try in Opencore 0.8.0:

NVMeFix.kext is disabled.

The output is:
2022-04-27 16:44:40.735542+0200 0x174 Default 0x0 0 0 kernel: (apfs) spaceman_scan_free_blocks:3154: disk2 scan took 0.000000 s, trims took 0.000000 s

Second try in Opencore 0.7.7:
2022-04-27 18:19:55.686392+0200 0x369 Default 0x0 0 0 kernel: (apfs) spaceman_scan_free_blocks:3154: disk3 scan took 18446744073709.391554 s, trims took 1.799631 s

In Opencore 0.7.7 MAcOs loads as ussual.
In OC 0.8.0 is this weird loading, only right in Verbose mode.

AppleMCEReporterDisabler.kext doesn't help.

oh wow, why is that? Is that a Monterey problem? How do I enable it?

BTW the DP->DP connection works with the previous CaseySJ's build on my Gigabyte Vision D motherboard and Big Sur.

No its not a Monterey prob because I get no prob with HDR on HDMI on rx5700 or 6900xt

It is simply a choice made by Apple to enable HDR only on HDMI or Thunderbolt; HS I don't know why but...
This is a note from Apple support posted recently in March 2022 that explain the need to get HDR video

@CaseySJ,
I updated to 0.8.0 this morning and noticed that my external TB3 drives were not mounted upon reaching the Desktop after rebooting. I also rebooted on OC 0.7.9 and didn't see the external TB3 drives. So some where along the line the Maple Ridge card stopped supporting external TB3 drives connected to my OWC TB3 dock at boot up. However, USB thumb drives work with the OWC TB3 dock.

I've also included my IOReg file.

Suggestions? TIA.

Oh I see! But why HDR/DisplayPort still works on RX 590 & Big Sur?
