[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thank you!
I will search his posts on this thread and try it. I hope I don’t brick it before selling the computer :lol:
Let me know if you cannot find the post. It was a little while ago so it will take me some time as well to get the search parameters right.

Thanks, CaseySJ.

Sorry for the beginner question. I saw that to fix the problem of the 5700XT I need the OpenCore Configurator, is this the official page of the project? https://mackie100projects.altervista.org/occ-changelog-version-2-58-0-0/
Yes that’s right, but each version of OpenCore Configurator only supports the current and next version of OpenCore. To configure OpenCore 0.7.8 you will need OpenCore Configurator from last month. It is available from the same website (all previous versions are available from there).

When we run OpenCore Configurator we need to open its “settings” dialog and select the correct version of OpenCore.

ok, thanks.

The upgrade to Monterey went without a hitch. I already fixed the problem with the 5700XT, I get the same results as BigSur on Geekbench. I noticed that DRM content is not working and the videos on Apple TV+ won't play. I believe the problem could already exist. My processor is an i5-9600kf, SystemProductName=iMac19.1 and the bootargs is set to shikigva=80. Is this correct?

Shikigva is actually obsolete now and the parameter can be removed. DRM compatibility has also been affected in Monterey. If we use iMacPro1,1 or MacPro7,1 we can play back DRM content.

I'm using Clover
Ouch! :) But not so bad…

First make a full bootable backup of Mojave because the upgrade is going to involve several steps, and a mistake here or there could be catastrophic.

Then open the Quick Reference spoiler at the top of Post 1 and find “Replace Clover with OpenCore”. Take a look at that procedure — skim through it two times to get a flavor for what it entails.

Then attempt that procedure. We need to switch first to OpenCore. In the OpenCore config.plist we need to set “SecureBootModel” to “Disabled”. Then we boot Mojave to make sure everything is okay.

Finally we can perform an in-place upgrade. But we should also take a look T your /Library/Extensions folder to make sure there are no incompatible drivers.

ok, would it make more sense to make a time-machine-backup and do a Fresh install with open core and big sur?

Hi @james-bond very interested to understand more here (using a MOTU 828es TB which works great on both Windows and OSX Catalina with latest 0.7.8 Casey EFI boot just updated to my config (e.g. don't need NVMe changes on crucial drives))
Could you please share a zip of your efi just for diffing it with my own config please (also have a 9900k and a rx580 so should be very close to mine) ?
Also did you update to latest patched 0xEC bios F9i from @Elias64Fr (I did) ?
Compared to the top guide on page one do you have bios changes?
Also did you need BIOS --> Thunderbolt --> Thunderbolt Boot Support --> Boot Once. ?
Is your TB interface works hot plug (mine does work fine when i plug it after boot on Catalina)
Sorry I didn't respond sooner; haven't been in the studio... In my BIOS I have Thunderbolt Boot Support --> Disabled.

These are the changes I have in the EFI from stock:
Kernel --> USBWakeFixup.kext uncheck
ACPI --> SSDT-USBW.aml uncheck

I have disabled AppleVTD :
Kernel --> Quirks --> DisableIoMapper --> check on
ACPI --> Add --> SSDT-DMAR.aml --> check off
ACPI --> Delete --> DMAR --> check off

NVRam delete Pikera arg

Using SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml > preferred for original TB firmware

I tried using the DeviceProperties method of fixing my 5700XT in 12.3 (from the post linked on page one), and it worked. But it lead to kernel panics waking from sleep (power play something something error). Removed it and went back to the SSDT method which works flawlessly as far as I can tell.
I have the same problem. Could you tell me how it solved it? Just erasing the DeviceProperties entries? What is the SSDT method?

Yes, a fresh install would actually be much better.
