Maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling that Apple is not going very fast with replacing all CPU's with Apple Silicon, so far it's just one chip the M1, it seems the have announced an M1X and an M2, but so far nothing, and apparently it's all been postponed.

I tend to think that Apple Silicon still manages too few ports to be used in bigger machines. in the end they have to replace the processors in the mac pro, which support multiple USB ports, PCIe ports, etc etc etc. At this pace it'll be two to three years probably before they can cut all Intel ties.

Hopefully all these delays will prolong our hackintoshing.

but I think a "tonymacARM" site would be nice...

With over $90B of cash on hand, if Apple is two to three years behind schedule it would be a failure of epic proportions.

i wonder how many hackintoshers actually use older versions of Mac OS (20-30% ??), I honestly see no point in hackintoshing an outdated OS, the idea, from my perspective, always was to have equal hardware for a lot less cost, or more powerful hardware for a lot less cost, or just more versatility than what apple hardware gives you. But always using the latest version of the OS.

If i'm going to get stuck using an older outdated mac os, i'd just buy an old mac mini and get it done with.

It would be awesome to be able to tonymacarm, but until other silicon manufacturers develop comparable hardware it will be a long shot. I have not yet seen a hacked iOS on an android device.

I just hope all other arm manufacturers don't take the Apple road and make their silicon incompatible with anything else but their own OSs.

Windows for sure will have a version for Apple silicon, I'¿m pretty sure Linux will eventually find a way as well into Apple Silicon. But getting that Apple OS onto anything but Apple Silicon will probably be either undoable or a huge bitch, so much so, that it is impractical.

Other than buying Apple hardware, it'll be next to impossible, I think, to stay in the walled garden of Apple.

I personally am working a lot on Linux, as I won't stay Apple on my day to day.

Seems to me like they are already 6 months to a year behind

Apple announced Apple Silicon in June 2020 and said it would take "about two years" for full transition. How are they 6 months to a year behind?
