Hey guys! First of all, thank you and everybody else who contributed to this in order to get these great achievements!!

My system, especially the UAD TB3 connection and audio performance improved drastically.

However, I'm having a little issue here. I'm getting a crash with the UAD driver on coldboot
on using this 3. GC-ALPINE-RIDGE-NVM21-V3-NATA.bin.

I didn't try these yet:
1. GC-ALPINE RIDGE-NVM20-V1-Elias64Fr.bin
2. GC-ALPINE RIDGE-NVM20-V2-Elias64Fr.bin

After the coldbootcrash, the hacki boots up fine, UAD devices are there and work fine.
Hotplug is possible without an issue (so far). using DP via Alpine Ridge to monitor -> not getting a video signal. I didn't try USB3.1 on the Alpine Ridge yet.

My config is:
10.13.6
Clover 4630 (hesitating to update as I had trouble some time ago and system works so far)
Z370 Gigabyte Aorus Ultra Gaming
Apollo hexa x8 TB3 -> port 1 > Alpine Ridge (PCI slot 4, pins 1+3 bridged)
Apollo quad satellite TB3 daisy chained to the x8
Apollo quad pci card

I attached the crash log, with Thunderbolt & PCI system screenshots & stripped down Clover stuff.

It would be fantastic, if you could have a look into this.

Thanks so much! xx
Hello @asushi,

Welcome to the forum. Some comments:
  • Flashed add-in-cards such as GC-Alpine Ridge do not, in general, work as well as flashed built-in controllers. Nevertheless, flashed add-in-cards do require a warm boot in order to work properly (but not perfectly).
  • Regarding DisplayPort via Alpine Ridge, have you connected a DP cable from AMD GPU to one of the DP-IN ports on the GC-Alpine Ridge? And is your monitor a Thunderbolt monitor?

I may have neglected to mention that SSDT-NVRAM.aml should be copied to CLOVER/ACPI/patched. This file is located at the bottom of this post:
Also remove the Clover "rc" scripts as explained. After making these changes, please reboot and check Shutdown again.
It’s now working as expected. Thank you. It’s hard to keep track of all the new changes, your help was precious.

Hi there

Thanks to this article my Hackintosh has been perfect thus far (using Intel 630 and note NVidia card is disabled).
I decided to update all the Kexts to the latest, and update clover, and then I patched Catalina from 10.15.3 to 10.15.6 and it worked...

Unfortunately the side effect is that it produces a permanent black screen before logging in when I plug in HDMI port in the motherboard (note I've never managed to get displayport working). I'm using a 4K screen set as HDMI 1.4 and Displayport 1.2

What saved my skin is to get a USB-C to HDMI adapter and it works absolutely fine (although Hackintool shows it as displayport rather than HDMI right now).

Any ideas on how to get the HDMI/Displayport working again on the motherboard?

Thanks!!

Hello @PointBlank,

Both USB-C to DisplayPort and USB-C to HDMI should work. The USB-C end of the cable, of course, plugs into either of the two Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports on rear IO panel. We cannot use the HDMI port on motherboard with latest releases of Catalina. If you have a Thunderbolt 3 dock with HDMI port or even a lower-cost USB-C hub with HDMI port, it should work (because your Platform ID is already 0x3E9B0007).

I have read through a lot of this thread but it's now 2397 pages long so I have missed a few discussions I am sure. I have a Z390 M Gaming MB which supports the Titan Ridge AIC. Before I spend the $120 on the AIC, I have seen mixed reports that the flash will allow my Thunderbolt display to work. Can anyone confirm that the AIC+ ROM flash will allow me to get my Thunderbolt display to work (primary monitor so needs to turn on from cold boot). Thank you!

Edit: Clarification: I have the Apple Thunderbolt Display

Good question, but there's one important detail you left out. Do you know what that is?

Not sure what you are asking. Do I know what an add in card is, or a ROM flash? I have the raspberry Pi sitting on my desk, I have read the procedures to flash the ROM, just not convinced I should pull the trigger on the AIC or just put the money into a new monitor.

What is the make/model of your Thunderbolt monitor? Different monitors behave very differently so there’s no general answer to your question. Apple Thunderbolt Display, for example, is one of the most problematic.

TB3 monitors will work without having to flash the firmware, but their on-board devices such as USB ports, camera, speaker, microphone may or may not work unless firmware is flashed.

Some TB3 monitors may not work well in a multi-monitor setup.

Some TB3 monitors may require Thunderbolt Boot Support to be set to Boot Once or Preboot ACL.

It’s always a good idea to test a Thunderbolt monitor without flashing firmware. That establishes baseline capability. Then flash and observe the difference. It’s always possible to un-flash the firmware.

Bummer!
At least there is a workaround! Guess we can hope on Big Sur.

I tested HDMI with this and it works (I borrowed it but I can't keep it):

Do you think a USB C to HDMI cable or adapter will work?

And THANKYOU for the clear answer, much appreciated!
