Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

I too would like to OC RAM manually and disable XMP... Could someone help or direct me to some idiot's guides, please? :)

Overclocking RAM is very, very complex. Try searching YouTube for a guy named "Buildzoid" he's a super expert. I think the name of his channel is "actual hardware overclocking".

I am seriously thinking about moving to Opencore, is there any gain in relation to Clover?
I also saw that there is already an Opencore GUI, and that was what was preventing me from changing.
@pastrychef , what are you thinking about opencore?

From the end users' perspective, I don't think anyone would know which bootloader macOS booted from once they get to Finder. As far as I can tell, both work equally as well.

Under the hood, OpenCore is probably better. As far as I'm concerned, vit9696 was the best thing that ever happened to the hackintosh scene.

For configuration, OpenCore is much more unforgiving. That's why when testing new stuff, I often still revert to Clover.

Personally, I've been using OpenCore on my desktops for a while now but I'm still on Clover with my laptop.

So, I would like something more refined for my desktop.
I use dual boot with Windows, and with this pandemic I'm having to do home office, and as I am a SAP consultant, the system runs better on Windows, but when I finish working I go to MacOS.
I'm having a tireless fight with my Hack, when it is in idle, it seems that it goes into hibernation mode, and everything is locked, I move the keyboard and mouse and it's locked, having to restart manually.

Try enabling Screen Sharing/VNC and see if you can get in to the system after attempting to wake the system.

Also, do you get any panic reports after force restarting the system?

I will try to activate later after work.
I received it, but I forgot to save it so I could inform you.

Disabling XMP can fix some obscure issues. It's usually one of the first things I disable when trying to troubleshoot stuff.

Please keep us updated on your Thunderbolt flashing adventures. I'm sure a lot of other users would like to know what works well with this motherboard.

Will do. Thanks for your awesome guide. It gave my confidence to get the Z390M Gaming MB. I really wanted to do a micro-atx build.

In macOS, try going to System Preferences > Startup Disk and select the "Bootcamp" drive

Trying that, I get the error below. Wondering if somehow I installed Windows using BIOS or MBR or EFI, or whichever one was the "wrong one". I thought I just followed the instructions as normal, but Google brings up BIOS, MBR and EFI comments when I search on this.

When you installed Windows, did you use a regular Windows USB boot to install directly on a drive? Or is there any kind of trick to making it use EFI or MBR or anything like that?

Are you using OpenCore or Clover? You can only select boot drive when using OpenCore.

My Windows installation was done when I still had my MacPro5,1 and was done using the Bootcamp utility. I transplanted the entire drive from the Mac Pro to my hack.

Yes, you need to make sure Windows is UEFI compatible. If you installed in Legacy mode, there are ways to convert it. Just Google around for instructions.
