Do you have fakesmckext in Library/extensions as well? If so remove it and rebuild caches then try virtualsmckext.
For sure, I went through it three times now. I don't have in S/L/E : VirtualSMC.kext or FakeSMC.kext. :-D ...

Just to be certain did you check L/E folder not S/L/E that is where many installer apps place it.

Oh so I didn't know. I thought it was just in S/L/E. Yes, it's old there. I updated from High Sierra and FakeSMC.kext remained from Clover. This explains why I could not boot with VirtualSMC.kext. I delete it and copy VirtualSMC.kext to Clover / kexts / other and try boot. if anything changes.

Mystery solved. I booted ok with VirtualSMC.kext. The problem with DP output did not solve it. I tried to change the resolution of the external monitor (DP) and each time the image is displayed for 3 seconds and then the blue screen. Any more advice? :)

Hi guys, have the same issue with a black screen. I purchased a 5700 XT this week and switched from a RX 560. No matter what I do just cant seem to get past the black screen.

My system Configuration:

CPU: Intel Core i7 8700k
MTB: Asus ROG Maximus X Hero Z370
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (XFX THICC III Ultra 5700 XT)

I've tried adding `agdpmod=pikera`, changing SMBIOS between iMac18.2, iMax19.2, iMacPro1.1, testing EFI's others have uploaded and just cant get past the black screen. Gets past verbose/debug and then just a black screen.

If I switch back to my RX 560 it works and loads fine.

Your help is greatly appreciated! Attached my EFI (been testing various changes all week).

Can you boot without WEG? It isn't needed for a 5700 XT.

Anyone having lockup issues with your 5700 XT Nitro+ and Cat 15.4?

Stable in 15.2 but have lockup’s and freezing requiring system reset in 15.4. According to Crash Report logs in Console it’s the AMD 6000 driver. Tried two different boot loaders and two different installations, and same result. Have system setup as an iMac 17,1 Z270-WS with 6700K cpu. Using agdpmod=pikera and Shikivga=144. Custom DSDT. Latest WEG, Lilu, and Virtualsmc.

Would love to know how to install 15.2 drivers onto 15.4.

Thanks
