Hi @pastrychef i just noticed that hdmi audio is not working. do u have an idea how will i be able to get it to work?

thank u.

I didn't stay on Intel HD 530 graphics for long, but, if memory serves me correctly, HDMI audio worked fine for me on my OptiPlex 3050 without having to do anything. Just having WhateverGreen installed was enough.

Again, I set the DVMT prealloc to 64MB and do not use config.plist patches for this. In my experience, setting DVMT prealloc in BIOS is much more reliable than doing it with patches.

On many of these OEM systems, the setting is hidden and can only be changed via Grub shell.

  1. You need to dissect the BIOS
  2. Find the DVMT prealloc setting address
  3. Boot in to Grub shell
  4. Make the change via command line

Hi @pastrychef, so if I put a dedicated video card It might fix the issue of the hdmi audio? May I ask which video card even the old ones that will work right away? It will be more for productivity use and hometheater application. thank you.

I purchased a used RX 560 from Ebay and it has been working fine. Just plugged it in and it worked. Never had an issue with HDMI audio.

The RX 560, is that a low profile that you got? thanks.

I've had an MSI RX 560 low profile but I sold that along with another computer that I had.

My OptiPlex 3050 has full height PCI-e slots so I got a PowerColor RX 560 for it.

Both cards work equally well with macOS. I never need to do any configuring for them. Just plug-n-play.

@pastrychef, so if I get the same graphics card or what other low profile card, all I need to do is just plug it in and it should work right away?

Yes. If you come across an XFX card, check the forum to see if it's compatible. Some XFX brand cards have compatibility issues with macOS.
