[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

That solution seems to be for owners of LG UltraFine 5K monitors. But then again, people often post incomplete thoughts that fail to provide the proper context of the problem and the solution. So it’s not clear whether that particular driver with slide=1 is meant to be a general purpose solution or a niche solution for LG owners.

Have you tried OcQuirks-4 with FwFirmwareServices?
yes, I tried everything except *free2000.efi, I don't want brick my motherboard
By the way, Im not using 5kLG monitor, Im using 25 IPS ultra wide

This build was super easy and worked flawlessly. First computer build and first hacintosh and had no trouble at all. Just curious, would I have to change any kexts or anything to upgrade the graphics from the RX 580 to one of the vega cards?

Vega is natively supported.

ou may try other Layout IDs such as 26 or 27. Also, search this thread for “front panel audio” by member=CaseySJ and you’ll find my view on this repeated over and over and over again! :)
Layout 16 applies AGC to the headphone output making it sound weird. Layout 27 correctly labels the headphone and internal speaker (green plug) and makes the headphone jack usable. I think layout 27 should be the default setting.

I found another thing,
I reinstalled Catalina 10.15.2(or 10.15.1) according to Mini-Guide,
After the installation is complete, as long as Clover RC Scripts is not installed, the black screen will not occur.
I don’t know why~~:crazy::crazy::crazy:

Can I install another GC-TITAN RIDGE Thunderbolt 3 Card on the Gigabyte Z390 Designare?
I want to achieve true 5k.

There is not single case of a bricked motherboard because of OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000. The severity of the author's warning is totally inconsistent with reality. In other words, when someone screams the sky is falling but nothing of any kind happens to the sky month after month and user after user, what shall we think about the warning? This is the power of Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.

Nevertheless, your drivers folder contains:
  • OcQuirks.efi
  • FwRuntimeServices.efi
  • MemoryAllocation.efi
Some questions:
  • Which version of OcQuirks are you using?
    • The standard release version from the Github website?
    • The one we built for this motherboard (OcQuirks4-efi)?
  • Does your system boot normally with just:
    • OcQuirks-4.efi (this is the special one tailored for Z390 boards)
    • FwRuntimeServices.efi
    • and slide=0

Hello @Austinddan

Welcome to the forum and glad to hear the build was successful. As @arthurmelo88 stated, the Vega can be a plug-and-play replacement. Because there are a variety of Vega cards from AMD's board partners, we find that it's best to choose from the ones on Apple's officially supported list. Many other cards -- with reference port layouts -- should work.

Please see the bottom of this page for the official list:

Because I'm still away from home, if some volunteers are willing to test Layout ID 27, I'll be glad to change the default from 16 to 27. Please check all the ports that you are able to check. Hopefully we'll get feedback on at least the following ports:
  • Front panel audio
    • Is the audio stable?
    • Does it sound the same as the rear Green headphone jack?
      • If not, how is it different?
  • Rear: green headphone
  • Rear: pink microphone
  • Rear: SPDIF OUT (optical digital)
    • Does this still work correctly?
A full list of Layout IDs for the ALC1220 can be found here:

hi @CaseySJ, I have almost same config as your's, everything works for me, but I have a little strange problem:

I can enter the sleep, and say, If my computer entered sleep at 3:01 pm, then no matter how long it sleeps, when I wake up the system, the system time still remains 3:01 pm, like time time as stopped when it enters sleep, this is really annoying, and I'm also tried with opencore, the result are exact same, system wake up, but time stopped moving on, and stop at exact time when it going to sleep.

I've attached the clover folder, please help me with this tiny annoying problem. Thank you~
Rereading this, it looks as if sleep/wake itself is okay, but the system time does not update after wake. Is that correct?

If so, it looks to be something new, hence:
  • Do you have Location Services enabled in System Preferences --> Privacy and Security?
  • Is the system clock set to update itself from an online time server?
  • When the system wakes from sleep, do you have internet connectivity?
  • When the system wakes from sleep, is WiFi speed normal?
