Well look at the bright side -- you are well within your return window for the new motherboard! :)

Regarding iMac19,2 -- if your USB ports are working then certainly no need to change the SMBIOS.

But I wanna keeeeeep itttt :)

I'm doing a build for a studio next month so I'll just pawn off the old one!

So I installed the PowerColor RX5700XT and set adgpmod=pikera as a boot option and was able to boot into Catalina 10.15.1.

Strangely, I'm getting the same or lower scores in Geekbench Metal and OpenCL then I was getting on my Gigabyte Gaming RX590. I'm also getting a bit of fan resonance with the PowerColor (for some reason, I have bad luck with this resonance issue inside my Fractal Define R6).

Playing with this in Windows and seeing if I can find a way to reduce the fan resonance.

@CaseySJ a little update for the community when dealing with an Apollo and a Thunderbolt card. Much like pulling the power from the computer before powering on a Thunderbolt device, I also needed to do that to the Apollo Twin. The Twin has 3 distinct clicks as it powers on, but I was only hearing 2 and couldn't get the device recognized. Anyways a simple power pull worked. I'm guessing this came after the Apollo went through a firmware update.

Bonus, Hotplug needs SW SMI on TBT hot-plug - Disabled.

Ok I'll stop bothering you with my usual, for now!

UPDATE: I lied. Enabling x4 for my M.2 drives takes the thunderbolt card offline.

@CaseySJ

I try to do the update for the 10.15.1

The machine just restart without update

I done the update for WEG and ran the Kext Utility

Dont know how to disable

  • AGDP patch from Kernel and Kext Patches.

As @rondark pointed out, it is in fact necessary to update WhateverGreen to version 1.3.4 or newer before installing Catalina 10.15.1. This means:
  • Downloading WhateverGreen 1.3.4 from the bottom of this post. It is not yet available on GitHub.
  • Copy the kext to:
    • CLOVER/kexts/Other
    • /Library/Extensions and then run Kext Utility to rebuild the kernel cache
    • Also disable or remove any AGDP patch from Kernel and Kext Patches.

Please provide a guide, Many Thanks

Hi Guys!

Yesterday I managed to install to my brand new machine the latest Catalina 10.15.1 version with the F8 bios.
Thank you from everyone in this forum the helps you made. Without you I haven't succeed.

What I've made:
- I've got the package from the #1
- I've set the BIOS the values defined in post #1
- Updated the: Whatevergreen, Lilu, VirtualSMC, AppleALC packages to latest version
- Make installer pendrive - I've applied temporarly the SATA0 -> SATA and EC0 -> EC patch for installer. I've tried blue USB port it doesn't wokred, at the and USB-2 front panel port was worked fine.

I'm still running 10.14.6-
and have a Vega 64 in slot 1

was thinking of adding my old R9 270x to slot 2 [thinking it will accelerate FCPx]

would that be a bad idea?
or
a good one?

is it as simple as just adding it in or are there special values to add to clover?

thanks?

EDIT: did some more research. Looks like it might work with the latest WEG and Lilu.
So I will update the kexts and see what happens.
I'll post my results in case anyone could use the info

  • You have Vt-d enabled -- it should be disabled.
  • You config.plist does not have dart=0, which is a guard against the ill effects of Vt-d being enabled.
  • You also have two memory fix drivers in drivers64UEFI, but only 1 is allowed at a time.
  • You are using SMBIOS iMac19,2 which is incompatible with USBInjectAll.kext. Please try iMac19,1 or iMac18,3.
  • In your Kernel and Kext Patches section, there is no External Icons Patch. This will affect sleep/wake when external disks are connection.

External Icons Patch? tell me more of this. Could it effect my sleep/wake issues? I have an external drive connected. It appears on the desktop as external (orange). Nothing like it in Kernel and Kext Patches.

I added it, though I don't have issues with sleep/wake, in hopes that other adverse effects would "chill." I'll pull it today and see if there's a difference. My culprit was using duplicate fixdrv's

Just set disabled = true in the patch like so<key>disabled</key> <true/> and the patch won't take effect at next boot.
