[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

elp me drown ... a joke
Hello Casey, and I say you have a configuration like mine,
I am in Mojave 10.4.6 and as much as I entangle I cannot load the 1 xmp profile.
I have it configured in the F7 bios at 3200 mhz and when I start the computer it always comes out at 2133 mhz.

Size: 16 GB
Type: DDR4
Speed: 2133 MHz
Status: Accept
Manufacturer: G Skill Intl
Part Number: F4-3200C14-16GTZ

I send you Clover if you help me achieve optimal performance.
regards
luisan

Now I have Radeon VII
Hello @Luisan,

Several changes made to your CLOVER configuration:
  • Removed CPU Type 0x1005 (due to some problems reported by other people). This can always be added back later.
  • Disabled all the USB Port Limit patches from Kernel and Kext Patches because you're already using the USB SSDT.
  • Deleted the entry from Devices --> Properties that was setting platform ID. This should not be used in combination with SMBIOS iMacPro1,1 because IGPU is not supported in that configuration.
  • Please disable IGFX from BIOS if you have not already done so.
  • I believe you're using Clover 5xxx, but you still have the old drivers64UEFI folder. The memory driver OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000 is copied in both drivers64UEFI and drivers/UEFI.
    • I've moved all required drivers to drivers/UEFI and deleted the drivers64UEFI folder.
  • What WiFi/BT card are you using?
    • Your CLOVER/kexts/Other folder has the following kexts which are not needed if using any of the Broadcom 94360 modules.
      • BrcmFirmwareData.kext
      • BrcmPatchRAM2.kext
      • AirportBrcmFixup.kext

Let's start with these changes in order to have a clean setup. Then let's troubleshoot the memory speed issue if it still exists.

Not sure I understand the question, but latest versions of Lilu and WhateverGreen are compatible with both Mojave and Catalina.
I meant would I be able to port the new graphics support kexts for the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 5700 XT introduced in the Catalina beta to mojave, sorry if that wasn't clear.

@thrf: You have to lookout this post of CaseySJ again. That is at least what made everything work for me. The fact that your RAM is Corsaire doesn't matter (probably it doesn't really matter at all what you write in these fields except for the first three columns and the last).
You have to fool Clover into thinking that you have 8x 16Gb slots instead of 4x32Gb. Everyone with any 32Gb sticks had to do this afaik ....

I tried all RAM Velocities without luck, i've also downgrade Clover v5070 to Multibeast v4920 without luck. its the same KP that i attached recently.

Casey, Since getting my Clover install and kexts all caught up I am having terrible issues with slow disk access. Loads of spinning beach balls wether its from local disks or network storage.
I'm attaching my Clover folder if someone could take a look and let me know if I borked something along the way.

I think there is a misunderstanding. By minimal, I don't mean that I removed sections from the plist, which from the documentation means that OpenCore will use defaults. I have read it over several times carefully.

I mean that between carefully reading the documentation, and testing the effects of each option, I was able to enable the least amount of options needed to boot. There were some things you had enabled that in my case I didn't need.

I did ScanPolicy=2621699 and RequestBootVarRouting=true though it still shows the USB first. I know I can remove USB from ScanPolicy, and it will list my NVME first though. I guess I just expected a different order. Removing USB entirely means I would not be able to boot my bootable backup from the menu. I gave myself a 30 second delay on the menu so I have plenty of time to choose.

With regards to sleep, I will look into AGPMInjector kext as you suggested, as you said your fix was less to do with OpenCore itself.

EDIT: That led me down the right path. I had setup an SSDT for PluginType but had it for CPU0 which I assumed would work because that's what a real iMac19,1 has. I need PR00, so I compiled with that change. I won't be able to test until I get home, but because of this issue, I did not have X86PlatformPlugin loaded. Fixing this may take care of that, and reading about how to setup AGPMInjector requires that working as well. I'll have to test this fix later as I can't do so remotely due to the need to reboot.

Hi,

Ah ok. I was just confused when you said " refined minimal config", and correlated it with Clover.
Can't find the reference to "minimal" meaning that default will be used. in the documentation. Perhaps it is not a general specific word for the documentations. Or, it might be that I myself haven't read the documentations well enough. :p

What settings did you feel you didn't need, and what did you feel you needed?

I am not entirely sure how your expectations are of the boot options.

AGPM is highly correlated with AGDP as well. Which in this case, you don't really need to worry, as you most likely won't breech AGDP.

I just setup my first hacktintosh, and most of the components are the same (z390 designare, AMD 580)...
Question: my hackintosh cannot recognize my usb type-c device (Luna Display which allows my ipad turns into a 2nd monitor)... why?

It may or may not be possible. I've read some reports of people installing drivers from one version of macOS onto another, so it's worth trying.

If someone has a more definitive answer, please let us know.

I have read that the actual driver is not present, turns out they either forgot to add it or did it on purpose to avoid leaks of upcoming products.

We have disabled USB 2 protocol on all of the USB-C ports, so only USB 3 devices will connect. To check this, download and run IORegistryExplorer then scroll the device tree on left side to XHC and XHC5. If the Luna device does not appear in any of the ports, then it may be because the device or the cable is USB 2 only.

The driver is coming in 10.15.1 according to Apple's Release Notes. Please see this:
