[SUCCESS] Hackintosh will not boot with iGPU & Vega 64 GPU (running together) with Thunderbolt 3

Thanks, I’ll give that a shot.

@patrickfogle,

Might be worth trying different Aptio efi drivers as per @pastrychef suggestion ... maybe update to the latest Clover package on SouceForge and trying the latest AptioMemoryFix-64.efi driver which is what i use on all my hacks.

Cheers
Jay

Jay,

Sorry to hijack but you seem knowledgeable on the subject. I'm having one heck of a time trying to get igpu and my Vega 56 to work together with my TB3 card on my system so I can get h.264 working. If I enable the iGPU in bios, I get the circle with the line. If I Use the -2000free Aptio variant, I get hung up immediately on the Reading KerneCache thing like the OP in this thread. Enabling the 4g encoding has no effect on this hang. I can't seem to get my system to boot with iGPU and the Vega, nor can I get the hardware h.264 encoding to work with the Vega alone. Any ideas? Thanks immensely in advance!

@EpicNUFO,

Use of dGPU + IGPU + TB3 in MacOS requires that the option "Above 4G Decoding" to be enabled in the BIOS.

That would be the first thing to check ....

I seem to remember reading that Apple relatively recently disabled AMD H.264 encode/decode and favours using IQS (Intel Quick Sync) via the IGPU ... hopefully with the "Above 4G Decoding" BIOS option enabled you should be able to get your IGPU working using a "Headless" PlatformID that should allow MacOS to use IQS.

Cheers

Jay,

Thanks immensely for the response. I'm not sure if you saw in my other post to you, I stated that enabling the Above 4G Decoding had no affect on the results. I've been chasing this for weeks, trying everything I can find on the internet, forums and searching my butt off. I don't understand why I can't get it to work. As far as I can tell, I have the headless platform ID set up properly in clover and have followed all suggestions. Here is my EFI sans serial/uuid.

I tried to find a way to PM you directly and offer to pay for your time/assistance but I'm not able to send PM's as I don't have enough posts. As far as I can tell, I have the headless platform ID set up properly in clover and have followed all suggestions. Here is my EFI sans serial/uuid.

@EpicNUFO,

You should not offer reward for help on this site as its against the rules and likely to to result in a suspension or even a ban ... please re-read the rules so you understand what is and what is not acceptable :-

Please read the Solicitation section that applies to your last post.

We offer our help free of charge to assist the Hackintosh community in general if you are so inclined please consider a donation to help with our webserver charges.

I'll take a loot at your EFI folder and see if i can spot anything wrong ....

Cheers

@jaymonkey,

Oh wow, ok I just read through them, I didn't realize even seeking help in general via PM was frowned upon! I was only trying to not seem like a leech and I am self-employed so I know everyone's time is valuable; only had good intentions. I only resort to posting for help here once I've driven myself mad trying to solve it on my own! Edited my post. Thank you again!

@EpicNUFO,

Thats ok will let it slide this time ... It's nothing personal but Apple has a tendency to come done hard on any sites where personal gain is made performing these sorts of things. TMx86 has survived by ensuring that we enforce these rules.

Having looked at your config.plist i would do the following :-

Logout of any and all Apple's online services (iCloud, iMessage, iTunes ... etc)

Change to the iMac19,2 SMBIOS ... this shipped with i7 8700 CPU so will be a closer match to your Hardware.

Make sure you generate all new Critical System ID's such as Serial No, MLB, ROM .. etc, make sure that the serial number is valid ... I recommend reading this guide which details how to check and versify the Serial No .. etc :-

To configure the IGPU as headless you should install the Lilu and WhatEverGreen kexts in /L/E and configure your IGPU as headless using PlatformID 0x3E920003 or 0x3E910003 or 0x3E980003.

For full details of using Lilu & WhatEverGreen and how to configure IGPU as headless see this guide:-

@jaymonkey,

Totally makes sense, and thanks again on that.

So I've started going down the line of what you've recommended, included the guides on Hackintool, Lilu/WEG, etc. Thus far, I've altered my config.plist to remove the redundant ACPI patches now handled by WEG, I've changed kext injection to detect and installed all Kexts to S/L/E via Hackintool, and then I started to get hung up. First, I tried to follow along and use Hackintool to generate the headless patch, but my

@jaymonkey,

Ok so oddly, I could no get a boot with the 19,2 definition. Luckily going through the process you recommended, this included me moving my kexts to L/E and changing the Kext Injection to Detect. This, in conjunction with enabling the Above 4G Decoding has allowed me to boot with iGPU enabled and my hardware encoding is working properly now with my original config otherwise unchanged.

Thanks!

@EpicNUFO,

Not sure why you where unable to get the iMac19,2 SMBIOS working .... Might be worth searching the forums for some advice on that. Glad you where able to get the IGPU working with a 'headless' PlatformID and now have IQS working.

Cheers
