pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Originally purchased a pair of Noctua NF-A4x20 to cool the NVMe's in the system but decided to try this for grins. I set the fan speed for the two fans to the lowest setting in BIOS. GPU idle temps are 10c lower. At full speed the whine was a bit distracting and idle temps were 15c lower. Have not run any stress tests to see if there is a difference.

re: dead drive(s) and the odyssey of copying the data from the dying drive(s). Seven days later (during which) I attempted to use ATI to copy and Stellar Data Recovery (SDR) to pry the data loose (without success) I had to move folders (and some individual files) manually to, 2 - 8tb WD Red drives. After copying all the important data, the Seagate passed its final gasp and has disappeared. Seagate claims the drive is out of warrantee (I bought the drive on 12/3/2018 from Amazon). They will not replace or refund the cost. Will never buy another Seagate. SDR refunded the $149 for the program. I will be installing a DAS device capable of RAID 5 soon. Thanks for the advice. :)

For DAS, I used Drobos in the past. What attracted me to them was the ability to dynamically expand capacity. This is usually not possible or difficult with traditional RAIDs. When I used Drobos, they were still using very slow CPUs in their units which adversely affect performance greatly, but, on new models, this should not be an issue.

As for the Seagate warranty, that doesn't make sense at all. I would complain to Amazon and credit card company.

Where did you get the fan mounting bracket?

I will contact Amazon.
This is what I am looking at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005IOLBT2/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

I made it with some plexiglass, heated, bent, drilled. It is snug enough to slide on and stay in place without any assistance.

Amazon will not help! :(

Wow. How can a hard drive purchased less than 6 months ago have no warranty??

Either Amazon sold you very old stock or Seagate is wrong about the warranty coverage. You should be able to show Seagate the invoice and make them honor the warranty.

Been there done that. They will not honor it.

What's their explanation for not honoring it? As far as I know, every hard drive comes with at least a 12 month warranty.

You can try complaining to credit card company that they won't honor the warranty and try to get the charges reversed.

Amazon says that the purchase is past the return date. Seagate says the drive was out of warrantee 10/23/2018. The drive came with a 2 year warrantee
