[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Just got done with my first build... Can someone please tell me if the following benchmarks are good?? I would think I would be better
For a 6-core i7-8700K those are pretty good numbers.

I have modified the correspondence of the pins. Bluetooth is fully functional!
Nice!

Also, please change my SMBIOS to iMAC19,1. A forbidden symbol has appeared. The -v mode appears as shown in the figure.

I have updated Clover to Clover_v2.4k_r4918. Is it still not possible to change to iMAC19,1?Still need to update other drivers?
We must wait for 10.14.5 before switching to iMac19,1 or iMac19,2.

Also I think I am having a video issue??
If only HEVC is working, but not H.264, then you might try adding shikigva=60 to your Boot Arguments.

Hi @CaseySJ and @avtor,

Thank you very much for your comments about installing high sierra.

I'm now trying to install High Sierra on Designare Z390 + i9-9900K.
Unfortunately, I got an error "macOs could not be installed on your computer clover" in the installing Phase 2.

I tried following settings:
SIMBIOS: iMac14,2; iMac18,3
Device ID: 0x0; 0x5912; 0x3E9B
Platform ID: 0x0; 0x59120000; 0x3E9B0007

The other settings are same with the first page of this thread.
But these settings did not work for my case.
Could you give me an advise to solve this problem?
Based on the 26 steps listed here, at which step did you encounter the problem? Are you installing 10.13.6? If you right-click on "Install macOS High Sierra" in your Applications folder and choose Get Info, what is the Version number?

Please compress and upload the CLOVER folder from EFI partition of your USB install disk. I may have to defer this one back to @avtor because of my lack of experience with High Sierra.

Man, I thought you had an 8700 and thought something was crazy wrong with my set up. That 9900k is a beast. I was reading about using that on my z370a and got some mixed comments. Do you guys think it'll give me any grief if not overclocked? Primary use is Pro Tools.
I just completed my build with the 9900k and 64GB RAM and the machine is a monster running stock speeds. I do a lot of Photoshop and Adobe Premier work and the movie encoding is ridiculously fast! I'm not planning on overclocking at this stage, but may in a few years if I feel the need.

I did tweak the voltage on i7-8700. I just kept dropping it until it stopped throttling during one of those test...er CL something? All to say, it's a good little processor and I'm looking forward to the jump up in the next year or so.

Welcome to the forum!

The HDMI port on the Designare Z390 only supports HDMI 1.4, which means a maximum of 4K 30Hz. For 4K 60, I would recommend the AMD RX 570 or 580, both of which are available in 4GB and 8GB models. The 4GB models are more than sufficient. These cards have dropped considerably in price and are still very capable.

For WiFi/BT we recommend the Fenvi FV-T919. You can order it from eBay or AliExpress if it's not available from Amazon in your country.

Good luck with the build and should you need any assistance, just ask.

I have a similar build (using Gigabyte Aorus Pro Z390) and I'm facing an issue with my Fenvi FV-T919.

it works perfectly "out of the box" UNTIL I disable the WiFi. Then the WiFi will not come back on (Bluetooth works fine all the time). I'm curious if anybody else has had this issue. I've tried a lot of things including switching PCIE slots, AirportBrcmFixup.kext and a half million other things, but I can't get this problem fixed. I'm hoping it's something simple that I'm overlooking.

For attempt number 500,001 may I suggest going through @P1LGRIM's guide for fixing iMessage located here:
Reason: The prescribed steps have a detoxifying effect on several network-related settings. Your motherboard does not contain any other WiFi/BT adapters (which is a common cause of Fenvi-related problems) so it seems like a good idea to pursue a general cleanup strategy first.

And if you have a spare SSD on which you can perform a fresh install of Mojave, that may also be worth trying. Will the Fenvi card work with a fresh install? If so, it would point to some conflicting kext or preferences file in your main installation.

Graphics cards today are used for 3 main tasks:
  • Driving a display monitor.
  • Performing intense audio/video/multimedia tasks such as rendering and transcoding. GPUs can perform these operations with much higher speed and parallelism than the CPU.
  • Playing games.
So do you really need a Radeon Sapphire in your system?
  • Because you're using Final Cut, Photoshop, Premier Plus and After Effects, the built-in iGPU can handle rendering and transcoding.
  • Based on your particular workloads, if the iGPU can perform these tasks with satisfactory speed, then you should be fine.
  • But if the speed of these tasks is not acceptable, then you should certainly consider either RX 580 or RX Vega.
Thanks again

I have the same build except for i5-9600K.
I tried IntelMausi v. 2.5.0d0 and the 2.4.1d1 but on all kext the LAN speed does NOT exceed 100Mbit.
It's like the Gigabit is not recognized...on either LAN port. Tried installing Win10, and there one port is Gigabit and the other 100Mbit.
Ideas???
I also get kernel panic on shutdown/reboot.....:(
