this was already confirmed a few days ago on the other forum. if you have any questions just ask. someone will answer and save you all the hard work! however 10.14.4 supports harware encoding of h.264 and h.265 with vega.

Through really hardwork day and night, I now confirmed one thing: 10.14.5beta1 lost H.264 hardward decoding whether VII or Vega64 if you are X299 platform with iGPU on board. I have to roll back to 10.14.3. What a painfull result!

Hey guys and @kgp !

Since I updated to 10.14.4 and to the latest KGP's EFI Folder, my system fails to boot form cold start sometimes with the following errors in -v mode. Can anybody provide any hints how to solve? Much appreciated...

That's a kernel panic (cpu caller error). Are you using the latest 10.14.4 folder? Also how often does this happen?

It may be related to a PCIe device.

I'm on the latest folder for 10.14.4 and it happens every time (more or less) I cold boot my machine. No PCIe modification from previous macOS / EFI versions.

Has anything changed in the BIOS?

I can't pin down this kernel error, but if you are able to (and have time) maybe take out every PCIe card (except GPU) and every additional SSDT just to narrow the problem down. I would take out any network cards (if you have) for now first and then try other things.

I noticed that with the .4 update there were numerous posts of people having some erratic issues. I had issues myself as well, it definitely wasn't a smooth transition.

New bad boy going in this weekend

My bt WiFi PCIe adapter is the only slot I got apart from GPU, i’ll Take it out and delete SSDTs and try... should I disable SSDT patches in config.plist, no?

One question before you do any of that.

When you ran the update, did it go through all the way? As in did it not stop (mine did) so you had to do a hard reboot?

The other thing to try is Clover 4910.

I looked at your error and it seems PCIe related. If it’s only a BT card in there then let’s temporary move out the SSDTs and reboot and see if there’s any errors happening again. No need to mess with the config file yet.

As far as I can remember, it stopped the first reboot at the time of the update, just like yours. I'm moving off SSDTs and try, I'll let you know.

EDIT: You know what? Today my system seems to be auto fixed ;-) I cold booted it a few times and boom... 100% ok. Haven't done anything. If the problem will occur in the next days I'll try your suggestions and update you. Thanks mate, as always...

EDIT 2: Now, speaking of that water blocked Radeon VII... I envy you... a lot! ahahaha

EDIT 3: It did it again, without SSDTs in EFI

Is anybody able to tell how to update clover boot loader sticking to @kgp guidelines without messing it up? there are a lot of toggles in clover's installation

I just use unpkg to unpack the .pkg and manually replace the files.
