[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

As @trs96 mentioned in an earlier post in this thread, the BCM94360CD is a newer and better card, but strong demand has pushed prices higher. Ultimately the choice is yours, and retailers like Amazon and NewEgg have excellent return/exchange policies.

The SPINWAIT error suggests that the macOS device driver is expecting a reply or IRQ from the card, and is not getting it. This suggests an electrical fault, so no need to troubleshoot this any further. It's just a matter of deciding what to replace it with.

Thanks a lot @CaseySJ , now it makes perfect sense! Just curious would you mind sharing Amazon seller name you purchased the BCM94360CS2 card from (only if the rules of this forum permit to do that)? I just wanted to compare and if it is different from mine, I will probably give it another shot and buy the same model, otherwise will return it all together and go for BCM94360CD

Thanks again for your help!

Certainly...here's a snapshot of my actual order from Amazon, with seller name circled.

Hi Casey...
Just a question:
I have not a Sleep Preferences on System Preferences.
What do you think about it?

Thanks

In System Preferences, we use Energy Saver to set sleep parameters. So your screenshot is the right one. These are my settings:

I upgraded from Z390 Elite to Z390 Designare to have Thunderbolt 3.
I want to know if my hardrive on thunderbolt 1 will work ? With usb -c adaptators

Also my FaceTime / iMessage not working now.
Bluetooth activated but can't connect my hardware.
Hard Drive
  • If you have a USB-C hard drive, it will work in either of the two USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) ports.
  • If you have a Thunderbolt 2 hard drive, it should also work, but with a TB2-to-TB3 adapter.
  • If you have a Thunderbolt 1 hard drive, most likely it will not work. This does not mean it won't work; it means there is a very small chance that it will work. At the very top of the Build Guide there is a warning for Thunderbolt 1 devices.
FaceTime / Messages
  • This is also explained in the Build Guide. You'll need to
    • Sign out of iCloud
    • Install EmuVariableUefi-64 and reboot
    • Sign in to iCloud
    • Then log into FaceTime and Messages
Bluetooth
  • Which third-party Bluetooth device are you using?

I have a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wifi MB, with GC-TITAN Ridge card from Gigabyte in it and it works. But doesn't show but the USB side.
You will have to install a Thunderbolt SSDT in order for it to support USB devices. The Thunderbolt SSDT for the Designare Z390, for example, enables two key functions:
  • Hot plug of Thunderbolt devices
  • Ability to use USB-C devices
If you run IORegistryExplorer on your system and select File --> Save As..., it will save your IOReg device tree to a file. Upload that file and I can check if the Thunderbolt SSDT for Designare Z390 can be used on your system.

Hi CaseySJ, will this work?
Yes that's the one. I see there is already a USB device connected. Maybe I misunderstood your earlier post. What problems are you currently facing with the Thunderbolt/USB-C ports?

Edit: What slot is the Titan Ridge card plugged into?
