Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, no WorkAround works well

So, no Mojave for NVIDIA users?

There are worrying signs. First, "we are working in a Mojave driver with 2080 support but no ETA" then "if Apple allows..." to the most recent "NVIDIA currently cannot release a driver unless it is approved by Apple".
I can not understand how Apple calls itself a green company and chooses inefficient graphics cards that consume much more power, generate more heat and yield less. To keep waiting, for now ...

A non-usable video card consumes zero watt. Can't be more efficient than that indeed.

I'll be using 10.13.6 for as long as it takes. I'll not find a single AMD card that has the power of a 1080ti that has a 35% overclock and STILL stays under 70C under full load. the power and heat efficiency and OC ability of nvidia GPUs is unrivaled.

Maybe in 1-2 years when AMD has something that can beat an obsolete nvidia GPU, i'll upgrade OS. or just switch to windows eventually if it comes down to it. I really would like AMD to prove me wrong and actually take the lead one day, but they've been trailing nvidia since maxwell launched.

This info was posted by an nVidia employee today:

"Thanks for your patience. We hear your frustration. Unfortunately, NVIDIA currently cannot release a driver unless it is approved by Apple.

Our hardware works on OS 10.13 which supports up to (and including) Pascal.

Apple has published a help topic that includes a list of supported hardware for OS 10.14 Mojave. They suggest directing additional inquiries here."

This doesn't make any sense. Would they stop making drivers for Windows if they didn't get approval from Microsoft? Why the hell do they need Apple's approval??? Does anyone else who makes hardware accessories for Macs need Apple's approval?

Does Highpoint check with Apple first before developing PCI-e cards and drivers for Macs?
Does Wacom ask for approval before selling tablets and Cintiqs with drivers for Macs?

Nvidia is just spreading a bucket full of bs.

I hear you, but in all fairness it should be noted the a graphic driver probably hooks much deeper into the core system.

It looks like a blame game right now and it leads me to believe that there might be something in Mojave that nVidia needs Apple to fix or change in order to get CUDA working with Metal 2, or whatever. It doesn’t sound like Apple is just too lazy to verify the drivers for sure.

sorry it is to much post to read all of them,
has anyone tried the 'vulgo' webdriver patch to enable High-Sierra nvidia webdriver into Mojave ?

also what is the difference between :
- whatevergreen ?
- vulgo webdriver or webdriver gui (https://github.com/vulgo/webdriver.sh or https://github.com/vulgo/WebDriverManager)
- benjamin nividia (https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update)

I'm currently stuck, without emergency, to HighSierra, but I'd like to test Mojave on my hackintoh (I have iGPU, but prefer my GTX1080).

to Nvidia Team : can't you release your driver unsigned as 'alpha' or 'beta' version
we are used to installed unsigned software in some case, so we know it can work, we know it can break...

Thanks nividia

I understand your point. But in their statement they are not saying that they need help to get their drivers to work with Mojave. They are saying they can't release drivers until Apple approves it. That implies they have drivers ready and are holding them back and not releasing because of Apple. I'm just not buying that BS.

@neoxlefou,

The Nvidia Web Drivers have all ways been Beta Drivers ....

@pastrychef,

I completely agree with you, it seems for some reason Nvidia are stalling by saying they need Apple's approval (they don't), the real question is why are they stalling ? Either Nvidia just cant be bothered supporting a new Graphics API (Metal 2) on what for them is a low user base compared to other OS's or they simply don't have the resources in their software department due to all the issues with RTX.

What ever the reason Nvidia sure know how to upset a loyal user base ...

Cheers

And BS stands for what?
