Some more storage, but not important for setup:
3 TiB WDC HDD, 1 TiB WDC HDD, UniBeast. Set it to UEFI only. NVidia workaround is not needed for newer cards.
0. Before you start, you have to set some settings in BIOS. You can enter it by hitting the DEL key.
  1. Save & Exit → Load Optimized Defaults
  2. M.I.T. → Advanced Memory Settings Extreme Memory Profile(X.M.P.) : Profile1
  3. BIOS → Fast Boot : Disabled
  4. (F3, F4 BIOS) BIOS → Windows 8/10 Features : Other OS
  5. (F5, F6 BIOS) BIOSCMS Support: Disabled
  6. Now a new menu entry point will appear below.
Choose Secure boot to open a new configuration page.
    Secure Boot Enable: Disabled
  7. (F7 BIOS) BIOS Windows 8/10 Features: Windows 8/10
    BIOS CSM Support: Disabled
BIOS Boot Option Priorities: Choose the raw disk name and not s.th. like Windows Boot Manager (<name of your raw disk>)
  8. BIOS → LAN PXE Boot Option ROM : Disabled
  9. BIOS → Storage Boot Option Control : UEFI
  10. Peripherals → Super IO Configuration → Serial Port : Disabled
  11. Peripherals → USB Configuration → XHCI Hand-off : Enabled
  12. Chipset → Vt-d : Disabled
1. Boot from the USB stick by hitting F12, use the entry UEFI: BrandOrNameOfYourThumbDrive and choose Install.

2. The NVMe PCIe SSD is not formatted and will be invisible to the setup. Fix this by doing the following:
  1. You have to open a Terminal,
  2. type diskutil list and note down the drive identifier. It should be /dev/disk0, if it's your only drive. Simply disconnect all not needed drives before setup. This will prevent some serious mistakes!
  3. Format the SSD as HFS: diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ MacOSGoesHere /dev/disk0
  4. Now you can use the drive utility gui to format the drive as APFS.
  5. I've used GPT and created 300 GiB APFS partition and an 200 GiB partition for Windows formatted as ExFAT.
3. Now you can install macOS on your newly created partition.
4. Leave the USB stick connected and boot from the stick, don't choose install from stick! Choose the new macOS Install from your SSD partition. Complete the setup.
5. Now use MultiBeast with the following settings:

  1. Quick Start > Clover UEFI Boot Mode
  2. Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC1220 *
  3. Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC Drivers > Network > Intel > IntelMausiEthernet v2.3.0
  4. Drivers > USB > Increase Max Port Limit 200 Series
  5. Bootloaders > Clover UEFI Boot Mode + Emulated NVRAM
  6. Customize > System Definitions > iMac > iMac 18,3
  7. Drivers > Graphics > NVIDIA Web Drivers Boot Flag
* Update: If sound doesn't work after first reboot, simply rerun only the audio installation. Source
After rebooting, I installed the NVidia Web Drivers and rebooted again.

6. For HDMI audio, I used this solution and followed the instructions: https://github.com/toleda/audio_hdm...er/ssdt_hdmi-nvidia/ssdt_hdmi-nvidia-PEG0.zip Sadly audio seems to work only on the HDMI port. :( If you have a better solution, feel free to comment! :)

Not working:
  • Audio on DisplayPort
Everything else seems to be working. If you have any questions or tips to get analog audio working, feel free to leave a comment. :)

Update 1:
I have analog audio! :) Use EFI Mounter and add the following kexts (not the folders!) to EFI/CLOVER/kexts/other:
  1. AppleALC.kext
  2. Lilu.kext
  3. CodecCommander.kext
The clover config should be still fine, because MultiBeast seems to add the right injection.

Update 2:
Pictures added.

Update 3:
I recently updated to 10.13.4 and also updated to latest Clover installation with UEFI/nvram Emulation. Before I installed the newest Clover version, I ran the nvram removal tool provided in the downloads section. Also before updating to 10.13.4: Backup your 10.13.3 version of S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext. After upgrading to .4 backup the new applehda and replace it with your .3 version. This will keep nvidia hdmi audio working. :)

Update 4:
I updated my BIOS to F7 with the result of not beeing able to boot into macOS. :( I don't know which combination of strangly named secure boot options I have to turn off.

Update 4.1:
I figured out the right secure boot option for BIOS F7 and added them to the step by step list.

Thanks for sharing this build. I used the same configuration for the hackintosh and it starts now without any problems. :)

Only my case fans are running on full speed.. Did you have this problem to? Thanks

Hi, yes I had the same problem with all fans running at max speed. This seems to be a bug in the F3 BIOS. After updating to F5 the issue is gone :)

You can downloaded the latest BIOS here: Gigabyte->Support

Yes, I will share my EFI partition folder as soon as I am at home.

Another annoying failure came up: After shutting my computer down, it'll sometimes wakes itself up and wakes up by any keypress or on connecting a new USB device. My current workaround is simple, but takes some time: Just reboot, boot into Windows and shut down from there. :D
So it's definitely a software problem and not a hardware/BIOS error. Maybe macOS doesn't handle USB correctly while shutting down.

hmm thats weird. After I do my build I'll see if any problems like that persist and take that into consideration!

Would you be able to share your EFI partition folder?
Here we go!

Hopefully I will get this case in a few months. It has absolutely no fans or pumps. Pure phase changing cooling solution. :)

question - on your g5 case, did you use a kit? where did you get the conversion parts?

also, i don't see any mention about the USB ports in your writeup. isn't there a whole thing you need to go thru to identify and disable ports until there are on 15 USB ports?

thanks

Nope, it's not a kit - it's handcrafted :) I wrote a short blog entry (german) about it. If you are interested in some details feel free to ask :)

I never ran into any problems with USB. I just chose this option and everything seems to work.
Drivers > USB > Increase Max Port Limit 200 Series
But maybe I have missed something? Just give me a hint with scenario to test. The only thing I couldn't test is the USB 3.1 Gen 2 speed, because I don't have such a device.

The only problem I have is this annoying reboot after shutdown behaviour. I tried to enable ErP, but this has also no effect. Wakeup on LAN is disabled in macOS and BIOS.

Very interesting case design! Thanks again. Once I complete my build I will be back with and update on how everything runs!
