Post #1/1x00 Nvidia web driver facts:
HDMI audio on the HDMI audio port does not work
For some users, DP audio works on the DP port, hence, DP2HDMI adapter
For other users, DP audio works on the DP port only with a second display connected
My reason for posting was because it may be an area to investigate as to why people do not get audio in certain configurations.
I have done some more research and it seems the Nvidia bios activates the connections in the following priority.
1st DVI, 2ND HDMI, 3RD DP. ( I got this information directly from manufacturer)
With HDMI only setup, I do get audio.
With DP only, no audio.
with HDMI and DP connected, HDMI audio works on both.
With HDMI and DP connected, the bios screen/PowerOnSelfTest/clover is only displayed on HDMI ( presumably due to the Nvidia bios HDMI priority) and nothing is output on DP. once OSX has loaded the DP monitor activates and audio works.
Im not sure how the fix in this thread works, but perhaps in the way it triggers activating audio, and the fact that HDMI has priority is the reason that when only DP is used, it doesn't get audio.
Does the SSDT have separate sections for HDMI and DP? If it does, perhaps removing the HDMI section would mean it ignores HDMI entirely and it only directs audio to DP.
