AppleHDA HDMI Audio [Guide]

System Preferences/Displays/Arrangement - move the menu bar to the "primary" display
Not an audio problem.

Please reread my post, that is not the issue.

Long story short. Audio only works on the DP output if a monitor is also connected to the HDMI output.
If no monitor on the HDMI output, no audio output anywhere.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Thanks for the quick reply. Will try it later then after getting meself a connector. Or after there's an update fix for HDMI.

Why did your post end with this comment:
I wonder if there is a way to tell the Graphics card to make the DP port primary so I can see POST with both connected hmmm.
Suggestion: if something is not an issue, do not post the issue.

Post #1/1x00 Nvidia web driver facts:
HDMI audio on the HDMI audio port does not work
For some users, DP audio works on the DP port, hence, DP2HDMI adapter
For other users, DP audio works on the DP port only with a second display connected

Hdmi audio works for me on the hdmi port, but only when the DisplayPort is already connected then hotpluging the hdmi port.
Toleda if this is a driver issue for all 10xx cards is it not worth editing your first post to highlight the issue?

My reason for posting was because it may be an area to investigate as to why people do not get audio in certain configurations.

I have done some more research and it seems the Nvidia bios activates the connections in the following priority.
1st DVI, 2ND HDMI, 3RD DP. ( I got this information directly from manufacturer)

With HDMI only setup, I do get audio.
With DP only, no audio.
with HDMI and DP connected, HDMI audio works on both.

With HDMI and DP connected, the bios screen/PowerOnSelfTest/clover is only displayed on HDMI ( presumably due to the Nvidia bios HDMI priority) and nothing is output on DP. once OSX has loaded the DP monitor activates and audio works.

Im not sure how the fix in this thread works, but perhaps in the way it triggers activating audio, and the fact that HDMI has priority is the reason that when only DP is used, it doesn't get audio.

Does the SSDT have separate sections for HDMI and DP? If it does, perhaps removing the HDMI section would mean it ignores HDMI entirely and it only directs audio to DP.

Something along the lines of
Nvidia 10xx/web driver HDMI audio Only working by connecting a second display

If you have working hdmi audio with just a hdmi-hdmi cable I dont see what your issue is.
for 4k60hz you have to use Dp Port. HDMi is limited to 30hz.
For a single monitor setup using DP, audio doesn't work.
