I have this same motherboard and cannot seem to get the audio portion working at all (ALC1220). Did you get the audio working? If so, care to share how/what kexts/settings your using?

Thanks!
Don't use scripts/Multibeast, that's a dumb solution since it doesn't survive updates. You should use AppleALC.kext in Clover instead. Be aware that you've probably corrupted your files by using Multibeast (it modifies AppleHDA.kext at least), but that should be fixed by the update to 10.13.2

Make sure that the AudioID is set to the right one, 7 in my case. "change _DSM to XDSM" and "change HDAS to HDEF" patches also need to be added in Clover.

So from where I am, to get to where I want to be, your saying do my mods in Clover (which I do have installed)? I downloaded the AppleALC.kext and Lilu.kext files (I've read they often go together). So I mount my EFI on the boot drive, go to EFI/Clover/Other and just paste those in there and check the AudioID... save... reboot?

Or do I also need to mod/replace the AppleHDA.kext as well?

Just trying to outline the steps to get this on-board audio working. Nothing's really panned out for me yet, but I do appreciate all the help.

Yeah. You just need AppleALC.kext and Lilu.kext in EFI/Clover/Other, and the proper AudioID (7 for me) in Clover config. The AppleHDA.kext (and all other system kexts for that matter) should be original, but they probably aren't since you used MultiBeast. The patches I mentioned above (and found in my Clover config below) may also impact it, I frankly don't remember (but I don't patch things for no reason).

Here's my current CLOVER-folder (from EFI/EFI/). Since you have basically the same system as me, with the same MB (Gigabyte Z270X Ultra Gaming), same CPU (i5-7600k), same SSD (960EVO) and a Nvidia card it should suit you perfectly.

Take note of the things in the ACPI/Patched folder. The stuff there enables proper USB support (including fast charging for iPads etc) and HDMI audio.

Be aware that since you've used Multibeast you may have a bunch of modified/custom system files in /System/Library/Extensions and /Library/Extensions that would be incompatible with my Clover-based setup.

Make sure your Sound Preference Pane has Output set to Internal Speakers.
Goodness gracious... WE HAVE ONBOARD AUDIO!!!! I cannot believe this. I'm stunned!!!! THANK YOU everyone who helped with suggestions. Final steps that gave me success::

1. Replaced AppleALC.kext with a fresh one (also updated from 1.1.0 to 1.2.1)
2. Ran audio_cloverALC-130.command.zip and followed on screen instructions. I ended up picking Audio #1 as an answer.
3. Selected the audio device (which shows up) and "internal speakers".

Screen shots of Preferences>Sound and my EFI/EFI/Clover/Other folder. Wow.. Super happy about this!!

Cool.

You should remove the AtherosE2200Ethernet.kext, that has no use at all and can only cause issues. Since you're using an Nvidia GPU instead of Intel onboard graphics you should also remove the FAKEPCIID and IntelGraphicFixup kexts.

Appears that somehow during fixing this on-board audio over the last week... I've lost USB functionality for using thumb drives, etc. Restarted a few times to test... appears that USB is functioning from a power perspective (USB charging the iPhone just fine), and even mounts the iPhone in iTunes to do backups/sync... but not working on either USB thumb drive now which is strange. Same drives I can boot from just fine (UEFI mode)... Hmmm????

thanks @kris33 . I want to buy this board . I have the same CPU only without the"k" but that should be fine.

My first thought was to buy the UD5 but i cant find any store in Germany that offer such a board.

Other question : Whats the difference between UD3 and UD5 ?

I bought mine at mindfactory. Maybe you can ask the support if they will have them any time soon.

The UD5 has a USB-C port that also supports Thunderbolt 3 since the board has a Intel Thunderbolt chip. The UD3 also has a USB-C port but that port does not support Thunderbolt 3 as the motherboard does not have the Intel Thunderbolt chip.
