No Audio Devices - AppleHDA Realtek Audio

Thanks.

Side question - I'm trying to understand how to "roll things back" - meaning when something like this gets screwed up - what's the easiest way to get back to the last known working config? Do I have to do a clean install? Do I just dump the kexts? Can I use the EFI - Backups? I realize that's probably 5 years of reading and learning but if things are going to be this flaky I guess I better start learning how to roll back to a working system.

THANK YOU!

trying to understand how to "roll things back"
Bootable back up, usually a separate bootable disk with a recent, working copy of everything plus a rescue USB boot drive. I take it step further, separate system (PCIE flash) and user drives (SATA/Raid 0 ssds) with backups (HD).

Next experiment, remove FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID-Intel-HDMI-Audio.kext.
Restart, reply with new files.

Verify boot log is complete before attaching.

Hi Toleda thanks for your patience with this and apologies for the delay in my reply.

Just did a clean install following the original guide with the modification you suggested (run MultiBeast twice, first when booted from USB and doing everything except audio, second booted from boot drive and doing just audio). Unfortunately same problem - no audio devices. I've attached updated copies of all the logs, etc below.

I'll do another clean install and try again with whatever method you recommend but seems like MultiBeast isn't working for me. Please let me know what you suggest.

Thank you so much for the help - I really appreciate it.

Hi Toleda - based on these updated files would you recommend the CloverALC or AppleALC methods for my next clean install? In either case, are there particular tweaks I should try given my lack of success with them both last time around? Thanks for all the support.

Don't recall your issues. Attach the config.plist you will use with the clean install.

Thanks for your reply

Here are the files from my most recent unsuccessful attempt using MultiBeast. Previously I tried the other two methods as well with no success but can try again. Is there one more likely to work on my system (H77N-WIFI - 892 audio - i5-3570K)?

Regarding your question, should I be using a customized config.plist for a clean install? I've never done so with previous Mac OS versions using Clover. I just followed the main guide on this site which doesn't call for one. If you suggest I edit the plist for the clean install I'm more than happy to try - what should I insert into it?

Thanks again

Is there one more likely to work on my system (H77N-WIFI - 892 audio - i5-3570K)?
Each method:
1. uses the same 892 codec files
2. requires Audio ID: 1
3. can only be installed after a successful boot on the system drive (no USB)
should I be using a customized config.plist for a clean install?
No. If the partition for the new install as the same drive as previous installs, the current config.plist will be used. If the partition is on a new drive, MultiBeast will install Clover to the new EFI partition, if selected. That config.plist will be generic and modified with whatever other MultiBeast selections are made. Do not install audio until a successful restart.

Suggest the system definition is imac13 (Ivy Bridge) rather the current imac14 (Haswell)

Thanks for the continued support Toleda. Here's what I just tried:
  1. In existing install with no audio devices: mount EFI and delete EFI folder
  2. Restart, boot from USB in BIOS, USB in Clover
  3. Disk Utility: wipe boot drive
  4. Install OS X
  5. During install process, two automatic restarts, in both cases: boot from USB in BIOS, boot drive in Clover
  6. Complete install process, run MultiBeast for Clover, FakeSMC plugins, network, system definition (iMac 13,2)
  7. Restart, boot from boot drive in BIOS, boot drive in Clover
  8. Mount EFI
  9. Copy cloverALC folder to desktop
  10. Run cloverALC, detected 892 "y", inject "y", Audio ID 1 "y"
  11. Restart
Still no audio devices. Please see attached files including cloverALC script output.

Can you spot any mistakes in the files? Any suggestions for what to try next?

Thanks so much!
