How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

And you did not reset the BIOS yet? Did you try to completely shutdown the rig and reboot after the crash?
Resetting bios to stock and rebuilding the settings from your guide didn’t help. In fact I am kernel panicking every time now. I am find it very odd, I am going to see if something is going on with the drive itself. I am not sure what legacy shim 2 does. Possibly USB related?

Did you already apply the Supplementary Update? I was facing a lot of issues also on my rig now suddenly with the i9-7980XE after the 10.13 Supplementary Update.. It seems practically useless... As soon I login into the system I face a reboot just shortly afterwards... If I remain at the login screen, the system stays stable without issues.

In contrary, under 10.12.6 still everything works as expected! The system is absolutely stable and has no issues, despite the change to the i9-X7980XE!

Could the latter 10.13 Supplementary Update be the source of all evil? What about downgrading to 10.13 Final Release?

Yeah I have been running the latest since yesterday. Are you seeing stalling at “HID: Legacy shim 2” too? I suppose I could downgrade using the original usb installer. Does that require a clean install?

No I do not face any problems at boot.. And as I say, if I remain at the login screen, the system behaves absolutely stable... However, shortly after login I witness a reboot.... and this now always!

Either the system does have problems with the CPU change, or the fault might be at the side of the supplementary update...

I never tried to install a system downgrade.... I don't know if it is possible... maybe somebody else can comment on that... If not I will try to clone my 10.12.6 system disk and upgrade the clone to 10.13 Final Release. I am not able to perform a clean install, as I would loose all my codes and data.

Let's see if also other users will start to witness and report similar issues after performing the supplementary update..

With supplementary update...
Everything is Perfect :)

Ive attached my Clover Folder :)

@kgp
im wondering, you are not using VoodooTSCsync?
For me, without that kext, my system is slow/useless and booting takes hours...

Can we get rid somehow of this kext?
I hate all the Voodoo Kexts, doesn't matter if for PS2/Audio/Cpu etc...

A better more similar cpuid would do that right?
But I think we need to wait for the iMac Pros...

Cheers :)

For any experts of OC, pls let me know if you have success of BIOS tweaks or OS tweaks or Clovers tweaks or all of them ,

The XCPM performance perfectly fine on my CPU, follow exactly E1 part of KGP, got SSDT.aml everything,

BUT (a big BUT, lol)

when I OC my 7900x to 4.7 ( 1.237 Vcore, -3 AVX Offset, -5 AVX512 Offset, Min/Max CPU Cache Ratio 31),
My Geekbench for Multi-core losing points

Compare without OC,

Make no sense to me, :(:banghead::crazy:

Do i need to remove Nvidia web drivers before updating ?
Did anyone try to update?

!!!! Important Note !!!!

Apple just released a macOS High Sierra 10.13 Supplemental Update!

You can directly install the update via the Appstore!

However, you have to follow the update approach outlined below

a.) On reboot, select in the BIOS boot menu to boot from your USB Flash Drive with the EFI Folder that does not contain the
EmuVariableUefi-64.efi!

b.) Subsequently select and boot from your macOS High Sierra Partition on your 10.13 System Disk in the Clover Boot Menu

c.) On second reboot, select in the BIOS boot menu to boot from your 10.13 System Disk with the EFI Folder that does contain
the EmuVariableUefi-64.efi!
d.) Subsequently select and boot from your macOS High Sierra Partition on your 10.13 System Disk in the Clover Boot Menu

You are done!

Note that after the update you have a new macOS High Sierra 10.13 build version which is 17A405!!!!!!!!

I guess there is no Nvidia Web Driver yet that works with the new macOS High Sierra 10.13 17A405 Build!!!

Thus, all Nvidia graphics card users are advised to wait with the update until a new compatible Web Driver has been released!!!!

The same states for all Nvidia Users, who did not install yet macOS High Sierra 10.13 on their system.

After a clean install of macOS High Sierra by means of the updated macOS 10.13 full package installer, the Nvidia Web Driver Installer will not work until a new compatible Nvidia Web Driver Package for macOS High Sierra 10.13 Build 17A405 has been released!!!!

Cheers,

Thats normal, we use Xeon-E5 with Tj of 82 degree...

That means your 7900x throttle at 4,7Ghz, delid your Cpu... Put Conductonaut on, and test again :)

Cheers :)

1.)

C4 seems outdated. I have to correct it.

The new promising approach seems to be the following...

a.) boot with sip 0x67 -> install AGDPFix -> Change SIP to 0x0 before reboot

b.) boot with SIP 0x0 -> install web driver -> change SIP to 0x30 before reboot

c.) Boot with SIP 0x30 -> Report back!

Always supposed that the AGDPfix also works for SMBIOS iMac17,1.

Following your reply it seems you that you performed all steps with 0x ?? Which equals to 0x0?

Did you install the AGDPfix at all? Which SMBIOS are you currently using?

2.)

Ok you get the Proper System Information for your i9-7920X. And you use the default CPU-Type and FakeCPUID entry in the config.plist of my distributed EFI-Folder?

Or am I missing something?

Regarding the NVidia Driver installation:
1. downloaded and installed them without rebooting.
2. Checked in System Parameters that NvidiaWeb is checked (somehow it is not checked right now)
3. did this: "The second option might be to use the NVWebDriverLibValFix.kext in /L/E/. Kext and instructions can be accessed here: https://github.com/mologie/NVWebDriverLibValFix/releases ".
4. Got the black screen and then did "In addition, some people also added the following KextToPatch entry to the config.plist in the "Kernel and Kext Patches" Section of the Clover Configurator, although this entry seems not to be directly related with the black screen issue and might be obsolete:
Code (Text):
Name: Find: Replace: Comment:
com.apple.driver.AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy ba050000 00 ba000000 00 Disable board-id check to prevent no signal © lvs1974, Pike R. Alpha, vit9696. Credits to cyberdevs from InsanelyMac."

So I never did the AGDPFix

Under SMBIOS in Clover Configurator I have all blanks.
When I look in Rt Variables Under "from System" (not "from SMBIOS") I have: iMac17,1.

Regarding CPU ID: I didn't change anything from your EFI 10/4/17 release.

ahhh that thing you mean :lol: I am using it form the very beginning... but ... only to read the error codes... how to enable other features? ;)

On the ASUS Support site, you have a little program to configure some new things :)

Question to all i9-ties

The conifg.plist of the distributed EFI-Folder implements CPU-Type "0x0a05" and FakeCPUID "0x0506E4" which seems fundamental for a successful boot... so far so good...

When using the i7-7800X, the processor was more or less properly recognized by "About This Mac", although also the Xeon E5 was certainly wrong. But the latter error was already observed under X99, thus I did not further worry about this tiny discrepancy.

View attachment 283883

However, when using the i9-7980XE, the processor figures as totally unknown, just the frequency figures to some extent. Same under 10.13 and 10.12.6...

View attachment 283887

Thus, my question is: What about the other i9 processors? Are they also improperly recognized and displayed by Apple's System Report?

I tried to change the FakeCPUID from "0x0506E4" to "0x050654" (as proposed by clover) or to totally skip FakeCPUID and CPU-Type, however in both cases, the system won't boot at all..

Can you please provide any feedback or any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

KGP

My i9 7900x is recognized like that :) (and it was always like that)
(everything configured with your guide of course) :D
