[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch (10.11)

Hi everyone,

two (newbie) questions. I'm about to buy a 450 g4 and....

1)I searched for a BCM94352Z NGFF adapter but I only found that in China. It will take ages to get here (Italy). Can you suggest some other card that is available in Europe compatible with the said laptop?
2)If I install OSx following this guide and use a wifi usb dongle while waiting for the adapter, will I need to re-install everything when the adapter arrives or just apply some patches?

Thanks in advance

I use Dell DW1830 or DW1820 can't recall, but if you search for the broadcom number you will find Dell and Lenovo versions for sure. The Dell one I am using has 3 antennas while the laptop is only wired for 2 so you have to add an extra antenna or just run it with 2 antennas (seems to work fine either way)

ok.
i solved the kernel panic , what I did was : I booted from the Mac OS X installer / clover whit that config.plist (used for install -config hd5500.plist) and select boot this Mac and it booted wright up .

after this I repaired permission from kext wizard, rebooted from refi portion on Mac HDD

it started right up but no sound .

i reinstalled the first(see explanation below) generated / patched applehda.kext with kext wizard , rebuilt permission, rebooted and there is the sound...

wanted to mention that I have done a mistake first (I guess) what I did was : the first patched applehda.kext I deleted from the probook.git cause I was not sure that was the created file witch is 3.414.002 bytes (3,6 MB pe disc) and then created new one with the same command ./patch_hda.sh ProBook, and saw that the resulting applehda.kext was in the same place as the first deleted . the second generated file though had 3.414.006 bytes (3,6 MB pe disc), and had this (second generated) file installed with kext wizard, but did not repaird permission, rebooted and got kernel panic . also after booted from installer media if I installed the second generated kext (the bigger one) the sound did not worked, only the first patched did.

i have attached both

all this time did not made any changes to EFI/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist (one used to firstly generate .kext)

Now I have a working sound with Disable xml->zml, without Optional: remove PinConfigDefaults ("CodecCommanderProbeInit") from audio SSDT (just changing CodecCommanderProbeInit to #CodecCommanderProbeInit will work), and with patched AppleHDA.kext installed to S/L/E/ with kext wizard

Let`s see how long with last (between restarts)

Attached is some output regarding AppleHDA after I had`it patched and installed to S/L/E/

i have one question : how can I reestablish a system ? can I use recovery partition from clover menu , or can I reestablish a system from time machine if the backup is located on the ”installer” hdd? or shouldd I use Carbon Cloner, just as was the case with kernel panic ... if ever get that once more ... how to just restore from a backup a working system?

thank you

Hey RehabMan, and GoodDay All!

Just a quick question. I did find a customized USB SSDT for my 9470 in your repo, as a hotpatch. However, I cant figure it out yet, how to implement it.

Should I copy it to /EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched, and call for it in config.plist, or have the whole hotpatch directly in config.plist, whilist ditching the USBInjectAll.kext? Any help pinpointing in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

I've decided going into it, since I have some problems with USB ports and Bluetooth after sleep, works rather well on a fresh start though. Just installed your updated repository btw, very curious about GraphicsFixups :))
(I only had the Finder - Highlight bug so far)

I can make problemreport files, but for now I have to finish a bunch of huge uploads : ) Considering resorting back to El Cap btw, with that said, I love how Sierra works atm, so quite unsure.

after powering down, (not reboot), kernel panic is up again... and if i power up with the config from installer it boots up just (but no wi fi no sound just like prior hotpatching)

Follow the guide in post #1.

@RehabMan if i install back original AppleHDA.kext, and use hotpatching will kernel panic disappear?

No idea.
You failed to provide EFI/Clover, therefore no idea regarding your mistake.
