NVIDIA Announces 'Pascal' Graphics Drivers Coming to MacOS

When should we expect these drivers? Just got done setting up a macOS drive ready for them.

Well, the moderators have been able to breathe a sigh of relief at least no longer having to copypasta the same "No" to anything Pascal related. Which also means I can finally continue to use my Sierra HDD and fully update it so my build can be considered fully working (Which will take a while, since I'm still new to all of this Hackintoshing after half a year ^^; ).

However, like others have said, I am doubtful NVIDIA made this move out of pure goodwill for users such as us. Being a reputable company and all, it would probably hurt their reputation had they outwardly supported Hackintosh users specifically. So, they used the new Mac Pro plans as the perfect scapegoat to support more "legal" users of their software, while likely sharing a wink to us, the "niche" who made the biggest outcry over this whole situation. As much as I don't like saying this, Apple has to be thanked here; if it weren't for this inevitable Mac Pro refresh, we would probably still be sitting on 367.xx revisions, continuing to whine and moan about lack of Pascal support.

Very thankful indeed, but like others say, pretty sure this wasn't done from the kindness of their hearts... ha.

Hopefully the release date for this is sooner in the week, and not later. I can't wait.

The only different it makes is if you have 1080,1080ti or a Titan Xp, any 1070 or lower doesn't worth it because the 980ti is there which have too much more CUDA cores and its now even cheaper
I don't see a 980ti for less than $450. I can find a 1070 -- which is very similar to a 980ti in the performance numbers I see -- for less than $400. Add in the power efficiency of the 1070 and I think the 980ti is not the bang for the buck solution.

Heck, a 1060 is a better option than a 980(not sure about ti) if you're looking for purely near-exact equivalent numbers on a budget (Like me). Anything else is in a league of their own, really.

Power consumption of a 980 Ti is insane compared to a 1070 at the very same performance level (we're talking 100-200W difference depending on the situation) and the cooling solutions are way better with Pascal custom models. Also they support Async Compute and some other nice DX12 features in Windows 10.
Right now I'm using a 7950 HD which has perfect native Sierra support even at 4K 60 Hz, but the gaming power doesn't suffice at all for this resolution (also the idle fan is driving me mad since I had one of the new graphic cards with zero fan mode awhile ago). My 1080 is coming this week so the drivers better be out by then

The cost of the 980Ti and 1070 are almost the same, look on the used market as they both go for around $300. Just picked up a used 1070 for $305, I have seen used 980Tis for $265. The heat and power draw are much lower on the 1070 as well as some extra features, the performance is similar / slightly higher over the 980Ti. Check anandtech or hardforms for sale area.

Looking forward to zero fan speed at idle again!!

If used markets sell a 1070 for that price then I'm starting to feel buyers remorse right now, just a tad haha. But I'm perfectly happy with my setup for a long time (Helps the 1060 card I got is insanely good with thermals atm).

Ohh.. How much €$£ did you lose during this journey?

Not that much really.. the 770 was about € 160 ...

The other cards I just returned ..

Actually I didn't really lose any money because I can actually continue using the GTX 770 in my Macintosh Server.
