No Sound - Realtek ALC AppleHDA [Guide]

Status
Not open for further replies.
macOS does not support 100/200 Series audio.
Fix: See Realtek ALC AppleHDA/Post #1/
Unsupported/Non-working Realtek ALC AppleHDA
1. 100 Series (supports 200 Series, install one method)

OK that works. And we are where we were before :(

Only error from picker alpha is this:

symlink("/System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel", "/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache") failed 17 (File exists) <createPrelinkedKernel 2795>

Could it be the problem?

Hello

i've an additionnal issue on my config

i've got a GA Z68X UD3H
I added the customization guide to switch optical output to my additionnal brack to have SPDIF out
Now SPDIF out is working through that bracke perfectly

but now i've a new issue.
After boot, randomely i lose sound through SPDIF. It could be after one hour or 6 hours, randomely.
When i switch to analog audio. No sound anymore.
I have to reboot to have sound back
I tried also to unload reload applehda.kext, without success
I tried also to kill the audio daemon so it restarts, without success
I tried on another computer and configuration, it's OK, the issue is not coming from the SPDIF cable or decoder

Could it be from the cuzomization patch on applehda ? is there something else or a kind of a glitch ?
Does any one else have this symptom ?

Thanks for your help :)

Hello,

I can’t seem to make the front panel audio output work. I’ve read the Customization.pdf and tried to follow it (3. Manual Internal Speaker and Headphone Selection), but i didn’t understood how to edit Platforms.xml after extracting from the zml. I also don’t know which software to use to do such edits.

I used cloverALC to install audio after some attempts with Multibeast, but HDMI audio was installed through another method, can’t recall the which one exactly i used (if I were to guess, i'd say it was audio_cloverHDMI-120). :/
The rear green port is functioning with my headphones, but the front one doesn’t. If i boot into Windows 10, the front port works just fine, but none of the audio devices in the macOS options produces sound. I can only get sound through HDMI (LG Ultrawide on the screenshots) and the back audio out (recognized as Internal Speakers on macOS).

I’m running 10.12.3 on Asus Z170M-Plus (BIOS v. 3019 x64), i7-7700K Kaby Lake and Zotac Nvidia GeForce 650GTX on a Late-2003 PowerMac case. Power switch, LED and USB (FireWire 400 is on a jumper) are from the PowerMac’s front panel, connected with a BlackCH cable. The front USB works on Mac and Windows, and the audio port works on Windows. AppleHDAxxx.kext isn’t installed, and i didn’t found any kernel Sound Assertions when i searched on Console (can anyone help me with that?). I think i attached everything on the .zip, but in case i made any mistakes, please let me know.

Thank you!

Late-2003 PowerMac case.
Does System Preferences/Sound/Output/Internal Speakers change to Headphones when the Headphones are plugged into the Front panel Headphone jack?
If no, jack or cable hardware problem.

It doesn't. But wouldn't a hardware problem appear on Windows too? Or macOS uses a different detecting protocol, ant that's likely the hardware issue?

Windows supports AC97, OSX/MacOS does not. The difference is pin detect, a hardware problem. The work around is 3. Manual Internal Speaker and Headphone Selection; requires removing an audio output device.

I didn't quite understood how to do it, and i don't know what is the appropriate software to edit the Platforms.xml. Can you suggest one so i can try to do it again please?

Thank you!
