Can not get the keyboard to work to log in. I've rebooted several times pressing F4 at clover booting

So, I did some of those updates in El Cap and it made it where I couldn't log in and things just got all jacked up. I tried installing Sierra and now my system is a brick. So, either the motherboard died on me or sierra bricked my ****. Just prior to the brick happening, my sierra install wouldn't work because of USB issues with the mouse and keyboard...ones that I never had with the El Cap Install.

So, my recommendation to you all: If you buy from the people I bought from, just use caution. El Capitan is just a better and easier install on this machine than Sierra. I highly suggest getting it to 10.11.6 and leaving it alone. I can only try and jam a square peg in a round hole so long before I go grab the round peg again.

Don't be afraid to ask a lot of questions in a lot of places until you get an answer.

@arkieboy72472 I don't believe that you have "bricked" your machine by trying to install Sierra. Does it still let you boot into the UEFI / BIOS by hitting the hotkey after startup ? Even if you have it's not a big deal, the I7-3770 inside will still work in another system like the HP Elite 8300. But first try a new clean install of El Capitan after making sure you have all of the correct UEFI settings before attempting. Hopefully someone who has purchased one of these will write a detailed guide for beginners to follow step by step to ensure success.

Start a new thread in El Capitan Desktop Support as this is Deals of the Day and not a support thread. TIA.

Costco have $100 off a newer Dell tower with a i5-6400 (it's now $499). Although this is more expensive than the deals above, I like the Costco return policy and it's not a refurb etc. Would this be as easy to turn into a Hackintosh as the older Optiplex?

Thanks to everyone that helped me with everything. I have all of the updates and everything that I need working. I got my USB audio device in today and it works great. If you have questions of me catch me on ****** as doc_brietz
