[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch (10.11)

Hi RehabMan

I recently followed your UEFT Clover hot patch 10.11 guide to install 10.11.6 (Latest from Mac App Store). Everything was great, However upon later reboots I came across kernel panics regarding the 'IntelBacklight not showed up'. Since then it will not boot in any other modes other than Safe Mode.

I tried the suggested method of using

'sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /' to rebuild cache, same message still persists proceeding a kernel panic.

I later decided to remove the offending kext file through Safe Mode in experimenting whether it will boot. It worked without the IntelBacklight.kext file with everything working. Although everything works well without IntelBacklight.kext I am concerned about future compatibility of 10.11 updates, security updates etc. breaking patched and support files so I thought I'll post a Problem Reporting post here. The output files are as it is with kernel panic when booting normally (With the offending IntelBacklight.kext file in Library/Extensions) Hope it will be of help.

All required Problem Reporting files should be as attached per guide.

Thank You

It is possible your system has a very slow HDD (or slow SSD) and the 15-second wait that IntelBacklight.kext has is not enough.
I think systems with fast SSDs don't run into the problem. And even on my 4530s, I have an hybrid SHDD, which certainly speeds boot times.

Try with this one. It waits forever (which I think in reality is capped to 60 seconds).

Hi Guys!

Today I found out, that Clover r3998 breaks audio after upgrading from r3974. Reverting back to r3974 makes it work again. Can anyone else confirm, if there is a bug in the newest Clover?

As shown in your kextcache output and ioreg, you have a lot of extra software installed:
HuaweiDataCardDriver.kext
HuaweiDataCardActivateDriver.kext
HuaweiDataCardECMControl.kext
MusicLabKuMIDI.kext
YamahaSteinbergUSBAudio.kext
Android File Transfer
Little Snitch

Start over with a fresh install.
Verify sleep working prior to installing all the other stuff...

Hmm.. I see..

So you mean that I need to reinstall the hackintosh from fresh install ?
Is there any other option that I can try without reinstall because I have many apps and data.

Thanks anyway

You can install fresh to a separate partition. Then test to see if there is still a problem. If you find no problem, that is a pretty good indicator that something you installed is causing the problem. At that point, you have two options:

1) remove software packages you installed from your main partition until the problem goes away
-OR-
2) add software packages (that you're using on your main partition) into your new install until the problem appears

At that point, you'll know what the cause of the problem is.

Whoaaa fast reply,

Ok I will try to install on my other HDD.

Also one more question about your recommendation, should I install 10.12 or I should stay with 10.11 ?
Its my main computer and only and no other os. If your recommendation is stay on 10.11. then, when the right time to upgrade into 10.12 ?

Sorry OOT

For me - even on my Mac Mini Server 2010 - El Capitan is more stable, almost no hiccups.

Greetings and a big thank you for all the hard works and very explicit guide.
I had a fairly stable Yosemite install with the previous method until a bios update killed the OS. I decided to to give el capitan a try with the Clover hot-patch method.
I have an Elitebook 840 G1 with an i7 4600m and for the most part things work with eh exception of the touchpad - have to use usb mouse and keyboard, the sound and I get some glitches on the screen much like I had before the intel HD patching on Yosemite.
I tried your new version of the voodoo-ps2 but this is of no help.
I am willing to go back to Yosemite if complete function is not attainable.
I would appreciate some help and again thanks for all your hard work.
